AlfGarnett Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Just popped into the Rattan style furniture shop near Tesco Lotus Lamai, had a browse and a negotiation, not very successfully I might add. The cost of our proposed set was 51,000 baht, after a chat she dropped the price by 1000 baht, what a saving. We were wondering could anyone recommend an alternative to this shop anywhere on the Island ? that can make balcony/garden sets to order. Thanks in advance. AG.
Tropicalevo Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I bought mine from a tiny shop on the ring road near Bophut traffic lights. Head from the lights to Maenam and it is on the right. A few small shops - could not see a name. There was also a 'sign-makers' shop, a hairdresser etc. The actual shop usually has foam outside - she does the cushions as well. I only bought the chairs there as I already had a table.
churchill Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Just before the turn off to the ferry at Nathon , about 500metres coming from Maenam is a shop that sells furniture , canoes... I'm sure he will be prepared to negotiate and give a good price .. Can't remember the shop name but ask for Khun Yot 2

He is a tad expensive - but very reliable. Any probles - he sorts them out. maintenance 12 years later - he will still help you. (I kid you not.) Old fashioned service and a nice guy.
Mole Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 There's a place just opposite Bangkok Hospital. It's a muslim restaurant called Faria, but they have a corner with some furniture and a sign which says they also make according to order.
pokerspiv Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 A friend of mine is a joiner from the UK, he made his own outdoor tables and chairs for his bar from discarded timber. They are very good quality. PM me and let me know what you're looking for and I can pass it on.
