Departure BKK, how are the roads?

Featured Replies

Hi. I've been up in Chiang Mai for a couple months, and I just bought a ticket to India. I fly Sun the 16th, 3pm out of BKK. The protest situation in Bangkok doesn't worry me, but I am wondering how fubar the roads are between the river and the airport. I'll be staying in Banglumphu on the river, near the fort. Assuming things in Bangkok stay more or less as they are now, is it going to be difficult to travel by taxi to the airport? I suppose a backup plan might be to hop a boat down to central pier Skytrain and connect to the airport rail. But a taxi would be preferable. I guess I have to get from the train station to Banglumphu, as well. I'm just not sure from news reports how difficult it is to get around town these days.

Been twice in the past week, once from near river city by taxi ....completely free run and super fast, the other by city line (crowded from Phayathai...but easy enough). Things can change but pretty easy for now and the airport itself is a dream...but numbers have picked up just a touch as far as I can see.

Thanks. Yeah, I figured that there weren't enough Democrats on the streets in Bangkok to really eff up the traffic too bad. Hopefully they get bored soon, or go deaf from all the whistles, and go home.

No worries yesterday when I was there. thumbsup.gif
