3-4 months if you stay on top of it.

Is that from experience or conjecture.

There is no reason for it to take that long unless you can't get an appointment. You have the decision on the same day you go for the appointment.

Unless it's changed since my ex got her US tourist visa it was just a few days. They would give a tentative approval while at the embassy and retain the passport. The approval was done within the next few days and then mailed back (if you wanted the return by mail option). It was about a week as I recall including mailing time.

Can't give any info on exact times currently but the 3-4 month reply is wrong.

Chiang Mai, interview on a Wednesday and passport returned by mail on Friday, 3 days.

But, there have been some longish waits for an online appointment, "weeks" were mentioned. Several posters to TV said they just stayed up all night so they could try the appointment www site in the wee hours hoping to get online and find a vacancy.

So, best to start early.
