Blood Donation Needed at Maharaj Hospital Feb 17, 2014

They should include the RH factor of her blood, to be clear what is needed.

I'm assuming the girl has AB negative blood since persons with AB positive blood can receive any blood type. (Google "universal recipient blood type")

Also, "Type O-negative blood ... is called the 'universal donor' type because it is compatible with any blood type" (source: http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/blood-type-test), so anybody with O- blood can donate to her, as well.

AB pos can receive any type blood

AB neg can recieve any Rh neg blood - A,B,AB or O neg.

i got this type of blood and willing to donate. just do not recall if mine is pos or negative AB

Just spoken to the mother and they have already found many donators. Good luck to this little girl and her family.

I'm really not trying to be off topic...I've tried to donate blood on two occasions and was told that they won't accept it because of my age. I honestly was surprised because in USA I would donate twice a year without any question. This apparent policy here in Thailand limits their ability to save life's during emergency situation when blood is needed. BTW I'm 60.

Has anyone else encountered this?

I do know that the questions checklist they use prior to donating for eligibility purposes, is less comprehensive than in USA. In other words, the questions they ask you are looser and don't appear to include many of the important questions that I've been previously asked. (Just an observation)

It would seem that no Doctor here understands Blood Groups.

AB is the universal recipient - she can use blood from any blood group, as long as the RH factor is the same.
