Ive had a cold, lots of sneezing, running nose etc for over a month. It went away for about 10 days and then came back again. Ive been taking Tiffy medicine. I think it started when i took a motorbike trip to mae sai and got really cold on the way.

Lots of people seem to have this ongoing cold thing, just wondering if there is some weird bug going around maybe got chicken/swine/dog/cat/monkey/buffalo flu or something. Doctors want to give you a pile of medicine but ive just been taking this tiffy stuff that seems to just bung the nose up which seems preferable to it running and sneezing all the time. They try giving antibiotics but as far as i know antibiotics are for bacteria not flu or common cold virus.

Should i be getting tested for anything? I havent run a temperature at all.

Its strange because i never get colds or flu, I think last time was about 5 years ago. Im not sure air conditioning is helpful but someone told me its a myth that going to hot/cold environment triggers colds.

No temperature? Man, you're in deep doo doo. w00t.gif

It sounds more like an allergy to me. No fever, recurring, dragging out...

It could be something you're breathing, inside or outside. Have you moved recently? Is there a new place you frequent? Have you gotten a new pet? Do you use a new soap or shampoo?

You could have an allergy workup done if a doctor thinks that's what it might be.

Many people in Jomtien are sick with what sounds like the same symptoms. My pharmacist said it was Bird Flu. It is viral so there is very little a Dr can do. They check for dehydration etc just to make sure you are taking care of yourself.

Do not take antibiotics for this flu.

Of course it is a myth that you can get sick from being hot or cold.

Most people around Jomtien say it lasts for about two weeks. So as someone said it wouldn't hurt to have a allergy checkup.

I just bought some medicine called Loratadine (Kaladin) some kind of anti-alergy med for 80 baht. It seems to be clearling up. I also bought an air purifier to put in my bedroom, maybe this will help also.

I dont think its flu.

Well here in the big smoke, the flu / h1n1 is all around - lots of kids ill - mine included. Not much in the news about it unsurprisingly. Just concerned parents sharing their stories on fb etc.

Tis the season.

lots of people seem to be having colds/flu at the moment; I think last couple of weeks most of the people in my office (in Bangkok) seem to have been coughing and spluttering. I was told by my doc that there is a mini flu epidemic going on.

Sounds allergic (maybe a cold to start with and then some persisting allergic reaction) especially as it is responding to loratadine.

i have been suffering a "cold" for a few days -----------No need for any excitement !

Stop adding to the "conspiracy" theories ------It is not bird or buffalo flue !

Just a simple cold --

It will resolve !

A lot of colds and flu about. As a diver I cannot put up with the symptoms,so over many years of listening, and reading this is what hits the virus for me.

The pills-

1 Centrum multi vitamin.

1000mg vitamin C 3 times a day.

6 tumeric capsules (7-11 have them)

1.5 litres of water/cranberry juice 50/50 or pomegranite

Garlic cloves steeped in honey for a day. Add a teaspoon to your tea.

Try to cut all dairy and bananas-i find this really cuts the mucous.

Chicken soup...dont laugh. It is magical.Garlic bread on the side.

First thing in the morning, fresh lime juice in hot water-a good detox.

For the nose problem, steaming is really good.Basin of hot water, some euclyptus oil, towel over head and breathe and blow.

And obviously man flu is far worse than periods or childbirth.

Good luck.
