Looking for Fire performers and/or Thai dancers for our wedding in Chiang Mai-

Any suggestions, recommendations?

Fire performers - audition at the FMP, probably get a crew that'll do it for the travel costs + open bar.

Dancers - is your fiance Thai? Easy to locate through the local temples.

Try google.

The Zoe in yellow area bars is a good place to find fire dancers, ask if " Poat" is in town, he is the best.

Whats FMP?

My fiancee is South African, so we have a largely have a western crowd.

Well seeing that they are travelers, came all the way to Thailand from all over the world just for a party, I think the odds are pretty good it wouldn't cost you much more than travel & expenses, you're inviting them to another big party after all, lots of people love being the star on stage, personalities of those doing such things for free already.

Just be sure to let them know your buckets won't have magic mushrooms, they have to bring their own xtc etc.

These fire performancer are Sea Gypsies, I think...some of their tradition.

(not sure if there are others as well, my knowledge on that is limited ).

Why not just get a cabaret show to perform at your wedding? Good luck with your cultural voyeurism.

Are you both dressing in traditional Thai regalia as well? It is bad enough when foreigners married to Thais go all native but when 2 foreigners play off the stereotypes for amusement, it is just pathetic.

Speaking of fire dancers i have a group of ppl on my fb as friends who do these types of performances but they aren't located in thailand. They are how should you call it rather unusual as in they dress differently and look different from the regular people. I believe some of them actually work do this fire performance as his regular job. Now in the enlightened west where you can see "freaks" as in tatto artists and ppl that do all sorts of unusual and in general unpleasant stuff that the majority wouldn't engage in well working as a fire performance artist is just simply seen as an "unstable" job. It's definitely not going under the category of stable jobs which are further divided into blue and white collar jobs.
