Security centre tells reds to stay clear of Bangkok

BANGKOK: -- THE CENTRE for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO) yesterday asked the red shirts not to come to Bangkok and rally, as it could lead to confrontation.

CMPO member Tarit Pengdith, who is also director-general of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), said the centre thanked community radio groups and red-shirt factions for ending their rally in front of the National Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters, which blocked officers from going to work.

The anti-government People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC)'s move to relocate its "Bangkok shutdown" to one site at Lumpini Park had eased the tension to some extent, Tarit said.

But there were still concerns over PDRC rallies at other sites including the Government Complex on Chaeng Wattana Road and near Government House. The centre would continue to negotiate with protest leaders in charge of the sites, he said.

The DSI yesterday issued summonses for 53 PDRC leaders for insurrection and instigating people to break the law, Tarit said.

As the summonses were being issued for a third time, the DSI would submit requests for arrest warrants if the PDRC leaders still failed to show up, he said.

The DSI summonsed the 53 PDRC leaders and key members to hear the charges from March 19-21. Among the names are PDRC secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban and Sonthiyarn Chuenruethai-naitham - who already face arrest warrants for insurrection; Chitpas Kridakorn; and Sakoltee Phattiya-kul; as well as Indian businessman Satish Sehgal, whose residency permit has been cancelled by the Immigration Commission.

Meanwhile, Sehgal, director of the India-Thai Business Association, has called on CMPO director Chalerm Yoobamrung to revoke the order to have him deported for being involved in the PDRC protest.

He said the CMPO had failed to put his case through the justice system and that the order to banish him hurt his business, with people cancelling advertisements for his travel book.

However, he said he would not file lawsuits to seek compensation.

What a sycophantic <deleted> Tarit is...! He apparently "asked" not "told" the Red Shirts to stay away from Bangkok, and "thanked" them for ending their rally at the NACC. No frontal attack by the police on this occasion, was there...?!

Why such a difference in tone when the issue relates to the Red Shirts vis-a-vis the anti-government supporters? The DSI issued 53 summonses for PDRC members for instigating law breaking, whereas nothing is said about Jatuporn abd Co. who are inciting violence and indeed, encouraging the illegal splitting of the nation. These people must surely be up for lese majeste charges, at the very least...?!

I believe there is an important role to be played by the Department of Special Investigations, and I would be very much in favour of such an organisation, if it wasn't run by such an obviously biased cretin...!!

Because some people only have to be asked,

others need the crap beaten out of them before they get the idea.

I thought you posted, some time ago, that you were a serving or recently retired police officer?

The reason I ask is you show an odd understanding of law enforcement.

CMPO are not above the law and the guy has the right to be treated in accordance with the law.

Asking supporters or members of the public to boycott certain companies or products is not, AFAIK, against the law,

One of the surprising recent developments is that the UDD have become a burden and embarrassment to the Yingluck administration. The UDD has placed them on the defensive in a number of ways - the challenges to the judicial system and secession completely disrupt the administration's international narrative, and any additional protests on the streets make it that much harder to make a specific case against the PDRC. The administration is in back-track mode at this point. By their own admission, they no longer can even pretend to have legislative power. According to Article 127 a new parliament must be convened today. Article 7 address the process for a vacuum. There is no way that Chalerm can simply imagine that Article 127 does not exist, though he clearly is trying very hard. The fact of the matter is that Article 7 and Article 108 and Article 127 do exist, and will have their day in court. The NACC's impeachment case will have its day in court. The PDRC gathering in Lumpini Park is the very least of the administration's worries.

"....Security centre tells reds..."...

"...community radio groups and red-shirt factions..."...

"..The anti-government People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC)'s move..."

All of the above quotes are Political misdirection's.

What misdirection?.....All of them intentionally obscuring Political Context.....By referencing the "Red and Red Shirt Factions" by their affinity clothing colors, rather than by their Political realities...That being Thailand's 'Pro-Electoral and Parliamentary Movement'..........doesn't happen by accident, or for brevity sake.

This is by design......The Elitist, anti-Democrat forces want to avoid suggesting there is such a Movement, lest it places them in an unfavorable light, being the anti-Democrats they are.

Calling the PDRC "Anti-Govt", is the same phenomenon. Implying they are against a Govt. they are trying to demonize, when in fact the motives go far beyond a Govt. of the day......Trying to hide coup-mongering motives behind an anti_govt. characterization, plus expressing self-righteous indignation about issues, is what they are all about.

The phony issues focus is obviously coup intentioned, as any of them could be Parliamentarized. They have gone through a number of them trying to find issues-oriented traction. The Rice scheme being the latest.

That is the misdirection being purposely advanced IMHO.

Charges for what? Just get Suphet and his cronies jailed. Are there not people still in jail today for things that happened in 2010?

That is the misdirection being purposely advanced IMHO.

If you hadn't noticed, the parliamentary opposition attempted to parliamentarize criticism of the rice-scheme, they even tried to achieve some public oversight of what was, patently, going wrong with it.

Unfortunately the previous parliamentary majority rejected all attempts to unearth any information with regard to the scheme, reducing parliamentarisation to an empty gesture.

Which is one of the many reasons that people are refusing to partake in, what they see as, sham elections, some actively joining anti-government protests and it is left to the NACC to dissect the workings of the rice-scheme and initiate action against those responsible for it's mismanagement.

This in essence is what Pheu Thai supporters don't, want to , understand.

The constitution and independent bodies created by it, are there as a safeguard against a (parliamentary)majority ignoring the rights of a (parliamentary)minority. When the constitution itself is ignored with the excuse of 'coming from election', there is, effectively, a parliamentary dictatorship as far as the rights and wishes of political opponents go.

IMHO
