Which beach is best for January?

Featured Replies

Requirements are a nice beach with nearby access to songrheaws to other beaches. (I don't drive a bike) Good range of restaurants and some girly bars in the evening. Was thinking maybe Lamai on Samui but I read Camilles blog and it looks like most days on Samui ths January gone were pretty cloudy. I think her reports are done quite early in the morning, was the weather that bad during January?

Thanks

No it's not that bad weather wise ! cooler than now, but it's generally OK....thumbsup.gif

Only Chaweng and Lamai will fulfill all your requirements.

January 2014 was not too hot and (as far as I can remember) many sunny days some cloudy days and a few days of rains.

It's nearly middle of March now, so why would the weather in January be relevant today??

January is always fine.

Peak season, so expect to pay more.

As said your preferences will only suit Chaweng and Lamai.

Camille is a local diver instructor who writes a daily weather blog along with some restaurant reviews.

January this year was unseasonally cold - look at the weathe thread.

A few showers (normal) and you would still get a sun tan.

Op might like to check old threads re rips/drownings at that time of year.

I think her reports are done quite early in the morning,
