New Bottled water delivery thread....

Errm, can one buy mineral water in bulk? The local 7-11 doesn't carry MINERE's 6 liter bottle... Had leg cramps until

I switched to mineral water.

Actually tried Glacier before - 2 days, 4 phone calls and no water!!!

Here's my review ...
Tuesday - Call at 5pm. 2 crates can be delivered. Ok, sweet. Yes we can deliver tomorrow about 10 am.
Wednesday - Call 1pm. Can you deliver by 2:30pm. We will deliver water today.
Call 3:30pm. Will you deliver today, because I have a meeting? YES.

Call from POLESTAR Driver's Friend who can speak ENGLISH??? 4pm - What is the number in my crate of water? I don't know. We will deliver today. The staff in the office did not understand.

I called POLESTAR Driver's Friend who can speak ENGLISH??? 10:30pm - Where is my water? They don't know, will call staff and deliver between 8-9am.

I Called POLESTAR Driver's Friend who can speak ENGLISH 9:40am - Where is my water? I want it delivered by 10:30am. OK, they will call staff. They(the office) don't understand. I am a new customer.

I called POLESTAR Driver's Friend who can speak ENGLISH 11:15am - Where is my water? The staff goes to Samoeng so far away! I said I don't care, when I called you last night you said early this morning. It will be delivered today.

I Called POLESTAR Driver's Friend who can speak ENGLISH at 3:40 pm - Actually can you go to 7-11 and buy water? Talk to your reception? I am NOT anything to do with POLESTAR but just a friend of the driver.

NOW I JUST GOT HUNG UP ON BY POLESTAR - AFTER 7 MINUTES OF EXPLAINING IN THAI, MY PROBLEMS ABOUT NOT GETTING WATER, TALKING WITH OTHER NON POLESTAR PEOPLE ABOUT TRYING TO GET WATER. THEY HUNG UP ON ME. WILL NOT DELIVER WATER!

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TYPE OF BUSINESS THEY ARE RUNNING. I WANT TO RATE ZERO BUT I CAN'T.

When will the simple crates of water be delivered. Who knows??? They sure know how to look after new customers.

I had a similar experience....worse than having to clean up so the maid won't complain.  It was great at BWT...had Pornping...now fineth.  The condo front office complicates things by trying to stick their noses in the water business..when, like a lot of folks they and everyone else would be better off if they just did their jobs and not tried to hustle 3 THB from people.  Leaving the crates in the hallway is problematic too..so perfectly understandable to require at least a delivery window, let alone a day.

This is a problem that many folks have. So solve it.

There are plenty of 'under-sink' or next-to-the-sink water filters available, low cost and 10-20 minutes to install even in a rental unit. They pay for themselves quickly, especially in giving one the confidence knowing when the filter cartridges have been last changed, and that the UV-light is actually on and doing its job.

 

Fresh, clean, safe water without having to rely upon a company that may or may not show up, without having to pay extra fees to get the water to your door, and without having to lug heavy crates, bottles, or jugs.

Sounds interesting. I always assumed that these in house filter systems were really for use in business premises.

Any info on cost, types and where to buy?

As always, prices will vary with features. A Reverse Osmosis system will cost a LOT more than an ordinary under-sink filter, but can be plumbed into the entire household water system in a private home. (NOTE: Drinking water solely from RO filters 'may' require you to increase mineral content foods or take mineral supplements. RO filters do such a good job but they also remove all mineral content from the water. Personally, I don't care for the taste of tea made from RO water, but that's purely on me. They ARE the most effective.

 

The unit that I bought (at Home-Pro) cost about 5,000 baht a few years ago. It was my choice out of perhaps 15 different models that they had on offer. My biggest concern was that it include a UV-light to kill of pathogens. The sediment filter (when I switched to a lower 0.3 micron filter) removes most pathogens before they even get to the UV-light.  Charcoal filter for taste, resin filter for hardness, a secondary sediment filter, and then the UV-light bath takes care of it all. Using this for the past 4-5 years, we've not noticed any particular physical ailments.

 

Installation of the 'next-to-the-sink models is usually just a push-on or screw-on tap to the existing faucet with a switch to route the water through the filter want wanted for drinking, of straight out of the tap for dish washing.  The under-sink models come with a T-valve that just gets screwed into the existing water line under the sink. Unscrew what is already there, screw in the valve, run a 'push-to-fit' line to the filter. (You may have to drill a hold on the side of your sink for the new filter faucet.)  Run another 'push-to-fit' line from the filter to the new faucet. That's it. Took me less than 30 minutes to install, and I'm no mechanic. The unit itself screws to the wall under the sink, out of the way.

 

If you are renting, ask your landlord for permission to drill your sink for the extra faucet. Our landlord's only stipulation was that we leave it if we move out. We have no plans on going anywhere, so this was not a problem.  And if by some chance we DO need to move, buying another filter is not going to break the bank.
