Hi

I got divorced last year. I was wondering does the British embassy in bkk need to be notified about this?

If so, what documents do they need from me and can it be done by post or do I have to go there in person?

Many thanks

No, that is not necesarry. your divorce is legal and recognised in the UK.

If your marriage was also registered in the UK it is ofcourse wise to now also regisyter the divorce, otherwise one will think that you are still married.

You have no need to notify embassy. It will not cause a problem for you. But it would be better if you talk with a lawyer.

Why would he need a lawyer?

Hi

Thanks for your replies. To be honest i can't remember if I had it registered in the UK or not as it was

almost 13 years ago. I went there to get the affirmation of freedom to marry. Is there anyway I can find out

if it is registered?

Thanks

When you get married in Thailand they give you two Marriage Certificates.

When you register your marriage in the UK, they take and keep one.

So how many marriage certificates do you have left?

If 1, you registered it.

If 2, you didn't register it.

How easy is that?
