If I want to become an English teacher again(I was for 13 years)I hear I need to get a Teacher's license.

I don't have a Masters but want to do one online.

Does it have to be a masters in education or would one in English be enough?

You do not need a masters, but a university degree. Bachelor is enough.

My understanding is that it has to be in education, if you have a bachelor already you can get a temporary waiver of the teaching requirement.

Note that for some type of schools no teacher license is required, such as for universities and language schools.

If you want a TL, you'll have to have a BA in education. A degree in any other field will give you the allowance to teach on a provisional teacher's license, renewable once. Good for two years.

So after four years you'll have to come up with a degree in education. If you're already holding a BA in any field, should be easy to get some credits to upgrade the existing one, to one in education.

I know how to spell 'here', what are you talking about?

I was a teacher here in Thailand for 13 years.

So, a BA in Education would get me a teacher's license, thanks.

Please be aware that it has to be from an "accredited" university, defined by the Teachers' Council of Thailand.

.P.S. Hope the "Grammar cop" is checking his own English.

But is it possible to get an M.Ed for the teachers license? (or must it be a B.Ed?)

I have a B.A English, so if i could just do an M.Ed which only takes 1-2 years, instead of going back to the drawing board again for another Bachelors (3-4 years), that would be ideal and i think make a lot of sense.

But do we know if it's possible?

Thanks for any responsessmile.png
