After the quake our well water turned yellow and dirty looking. We only use it for showering and non-drinking purposes. The GF took her normal 2+ showers. I waited until the next day when the water started to look normal again. My GF started to itch something furious…. so much so that she had to take an anti-histamine. (Benadryl…. which she hates.). I started to itch also. So we have decided to get some kind of filter. Preferably, a shower filter. But whatever fits the bill. I know there are a lots of knowledgable guys here. Any advice on filters and where to get them and what kind we might need would be of immense help. Thx.

By the way. Thx for the past help, guys. I have been here almost 2 years now. I know some people hate when people ask "stupid" and simple questions. But as a relative newbie I can only say thx. When some people first get here it can be confusing as heck. And you might not know where to get the most minor of things and you are lost if you venture too far from the moat. It is the nice and helpful souls at Thaivisa that got me over the rough parts.

Thx again.

That looks like a filters no better than a seive.

The small domestic triple filters with carbon, ceramic etc for drinking water retail from about 1600by upwards.

That's why I query for 600bt and the same size what is it filtering.

The whole house water filters you can see at the big stores, usually stainless steel stand a metre high and look like they can do dialysis aswell.

Sorry but 600bt isn't going to do jot.

And OP, I think most of us would get urticaria not showering for two days.

The earthquake has nothing to do with dirty water, the rivers have been red since it started raining two week ago.

I think you are wasting your money. Water carries histamines, they are able to pass though a filter the way water does, since they are air borne spores, More likely the rain has delivered histamines into your water supply. They will soon quickly pass through the system, or just 'deactivate' as they are seasonal. Just take antihistamines until symptoms settle.

Itching (or sneezing repeatedly in the shower) means histamines in the water, a filter will do nothing to stop that. Histamines are present in water all over the world in Spring. Just take antihistamines.

It might be worth just flushing your pipes through thoroughly, the quake & aftershocks have perhaps disturbed the sediment, which anyway builds-up inside the pipes ?
