Where do you get your info? Germany is one of the G-7 countries ( Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States ) and as such get 30 day visa on arrival even if entering at a land crossing since Nov 2013.

None of the G7 countries qualify for a visa on arrival, They get 30 day visa exempt entries by land or air.

I'm in the same position. Came in on a 30 day tourist exempt visa in March 2014, but passport 'disappeared' in my first 3 days in Phuket Town.

Does Anyone know, when I get replacement passport, whether Thai immigration at Vientiane with fine me the 20000 baht maximum.

Thanks

If your on overstay yes they will..

And thats the least of your worries if you get caught not leaving the country.

A VOA is only available for those from certain countries. See: http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/123/15393-Visa-on-Arrival.html

@ david bensen.. yor louse your pasport long time ago.. you was allowed to stay 30 days in thailand.. (witch nationalety are you) i guess you did arrive with the air plain... so if you get catched bevore you leav the country you will get arrested till you pay the 20.000 bhat or you can sit it up i ges for 200 bhat a day... so maybe the best for you is to contact your consulat and tray to get help there.. call there the first and ask.... an overstay of this kind of time is realy not good... you can also contact a good loyer.. (if you hav monney) thats a realy bad situation.. you shout hav never an overstay..

You will be on overstay from the date your 30 day permit to stay ended. At 500 baht a day it only takes 40 days to reach the max fine of 20K baht.

You will have to pay the overstay when you leave the country.

Many countries will issue a emergency travel document or a temporary passport if your passport is lost or stolen. Most are not free but it would probably be much cheaper than the 20K baht overstay fine.

Tuesday 20 May 2014 or Monday 19? ..Assuming holiday means no public service, the Thai Consulate public holiday calendar marks Monday 19 May, but no reason of rest. Can I assume Tuesday 20 of May the Thai Consulate is open?

That was for Tuesday the 13 which was last week. Look at the date of my post.

There are no more holidays until the 14th of July.

Damn. I used to love this country. I have been here for 12 years and been on a Non-B for the last 4 years. I am between jobs and as all those that have been here for a while know that you need more than 30 days on your visa for the next company to work for to process the tourist visa back to a Non -B. Question,( I am sorry "Global Monitors") as I have asked this question before. Can I go to Vientiane, get a 60 day tourist visa(I will certainly be employed with in that time period) and not have to sweat it???

Probably yes. I got a double entry TR there shortly after my last job and non-B finished without any extra questions asked. I would go for a double entry TR just in case - don't trust your next company to tell you when you might start, those are false promises or at best them (and therefore you) being too optimistic - I would rather suggest you get yourself a double entry TR to tie yourself over for a longer period of being between jobs than you might expect. Particularly with the political crisis ongoing and showing no signs of ending, it's anyone's guess how the economy will respond but indications are for a greatly revised downward GDP trend and new hiring, especially of foreigners, being placed down the bottom of the list of priorities.
