I recently moved back to the states to try and avoid being injured in the unrest (I lived near Ramkhamheang Uni) and to try and make some better money. Rude awakening here in the states as far as getting a job. Nobody just talks to you anymore. Everything must be done online and then wait 1-3 weeks for an interview. Had a promising sounding interview with a company recruiter followed by an uncertain interview with the hiring managers. Was told the recruiter would be back in touch with me. After waiting 2 days I sent a polite inquiry to the recruiter and was told the 'team' would let her know on Monday (this was Friday).

If I don't get the job I'm thinking I may just as well move back home to Thailand. My wife of 9 years and I have a nice home in Nakhon Nayok. I had been in Thailand 12 years when I made the move back to the states and I had been on non-B visas up until the last year when we decided to just go ahead and get a non-O to save some hassles with schools fumbling around with paperwork. When I left, the guy at the airport in really bad English asked me if I had plans to return and I told him I did but not right away. I believe he just stamped my visa as used or canceled so my question is, How difficult will it be for me to return on a one-way ticket and go to immigration and get another non-O? Outside of added cost, did I screw myself up by not going to immigration and getting a re-entry stamp before leaving or should it be fairly straight forward (as it ever gets in Thailand) to just get a new non-O?

Thanks in advance for any constructive advice. :)

A re-entry stamp, some fee,

would have saved you to go now to a Thai Consular office outside Thailand, can maybe also send the Passport by mail there and back and

and make a new Non Immigrant O visa now.

Or just fly back to TH,.possible problems when check in with the airline if you have no onward ticket and no regular Visa, get 30 days Visa exemption time

and extend that 30 days than in Thailand at an Immigration office for a fee. Can extend up to a year if married, if you fit all conditions. wink.png

Is that something new, or are you thinking of the 30 day extension on a real tourist visa?

it's all fairly new to me as I moved to Thailand in 2002 and had not been out of the country (except 2 trips to Loas) until I left last month to come here to the states. Will probably be returning to Thailand on Friday the 23rd. Mostly curious if I will have a problem getting through immigration at the airport. My wife and I are on very good terms with immigration in Chocheansao <-sp) so shouldn't have too much of an issue with them.

Wanted to know if I'm going to need to do a run to Loas again for a 90 day non-O and then start all the paperwork again in Thailand to get a new non-O.

Thanks folks :)

As an update with a twist - I was just looking through my passport to see what kind of stamp they put in it at the airport in Bangkok and it looks like they didn't put ANY stamp in it. Just removed my arrival card. Is that going to add to the drama or simplify things as my non-O is good until Oct. 2014?

It seems you had an extension of stay based upon marriage not a non-o visa. If you have a re-entry permit you could enter and get a permit to stay until October. If not you will only get a 30 day visa exempt entry.

If you you had a multiple entry non-o visa that is still valid you could return and get a new 90 day entry.

If the above is not what you have your best option would be to get a single entry non-o before traveling then you could apply for a new extension of stay based upon marriage if you can meet the financial requirements. .If not you should get a multiple entry non-o visa that would give you 90 day entries for a year.

You have to be married to a Thai citizen or you must have children with a Thai citizen and you should also be staying together, living together,

than you can get such an extension of 60 days on Visa exempt 14 days or 30 days allowances. wink.png
