Flying in and Out

Featured Replies

Hello,

I had a very disturbing incident today. I went to the Thai Embassy in Yangon to drop off papers for a Thai Tourist visa. I could not get in to the emabssy. too many people.

They said you can get a number today and maybe it will get called tommorow.

Anyhow I have to be in Thailand soon and the duration of my stay is 53 days. What is I just fly in and out after 30 days. I should get 30 more days correct? Can I do this all in the same day? Is there any harm in this approach?

Thank You

If it will be your first 2 visa exempt entries you should be able to do it. At the moment is does not appear to be a problem.

But it would be wise to have a ticket out of the country and be able show sufficient funds (20k baht) for your stay.

I suggest you go back early tomorrow and try again at the embassy. It is Monday which would be a busy day anywhere.

It seems a lot of people are placing more importance on their stays in Thailand, than on their stays in other countries even though they may have to be on tourist visas or visa exemptions during their period of stay in Thailand.

I don't see what the problem is with waiting an extra day or two for your visa in Yangon. Just enjoy that beautiful city and you'll have a visa, which will eliminate some stress that you would have at the airport in Thailand where they are starting to question people without visas more and more. Surely if you can afford to fly in and out of Thailand twice to make for a total of 53 days in Thailand you can re-arrange your schedule to spend an extra day or two in Myanmar NOW to get a visa so that you won't have to fly in/out in 30 days time nor be subject to extra scrutiny at immigration.

Well, it is not as simple as everyone is making it. I work and will need to be here for work until the end of the month so I can't just sit outside the Thai Embassy every morning. I am looking into getting a visa service to help me. This office was unlike any other I have ever been to. There were about 300 Myanmar folk in line and the best you can do is grab a number and come back the next day.

i think the point that most people here are missing is that this kind of delay can now be expected at ALL regional embassies and consulates.

i can only imagine what it is like in Vientiane right now, once 200 visas a a day, now how many? 4-500?

And there you have it folks - the classical working on a tourist visa case. Exactly what immigration are targeting!

I think what I am seeing here is that if you want any kind of visa from a neighboirng country it is best to use a service. These places are full of professional visa people and if you go individually you have no idea if you can get through or when. Even if you have nothing going on that is kinda a crummy way to spend several days allowing a visa office to dictate all your moves.

Anyhow Visa services start at about $100 USD including fee's. I found round trip flights for less than that and will just fly out for a few days at the end of June so I don't overstay. Then I will come back for about half of July. This is about the same cost of getting a visa with a service.

Pretty crazy and I feel bad for people who have to regulary deal with these places.

You and others that made comments (removed) about that post need to go back and read his earlier post. He is in Myanmar and working there not here.

He is attempting to get a tourist visa in Yangon.

Yes, thank you ubonjoe. I work in Mynamar and I have a proper work permit. The tourist visa is for Thailand so I can stay longer than 30 days this summer. Geesh.
