Thai army summons ex-PM Yingluck, others in Thaksin clan

This extraordinary period in Thai history continues to set a new pace, as developments unfold quickly. Trying to sift through the news is the main challenge, and trying to verify such reporting in other publications is an added challenge. What we do know is that the Senate is functioning, and that is a key indicator and a very promising one at that. The courts similarly. It will likely take a number of days before things become clearer. The first aspect of the administration of this coup is clearly to secure control. Once that has been established, some path will likely emerge. But it is remarkable the change that has already taken place. There has been no violence or resistance. The PDRC remains jubilant.

stunning synopsis of what everybody already knew, scamper, master of the bleeding obvious. In case you hadn't realised most people can read the news for themselves without you reiterating it for them coffee1.gif

Dude, you're really looking pretty sad today. Relax.

Military Junta .... just where on earth do you think your living ? right or wrong you get summoned by any junta if .... if you have any sense innocent or guilty you dont wait, you get out while you can.

No problems here.. as long as they can never get back.. good riddance of the Shins. Maybe the junta should try to get the courts to convict them on running from a summons.. making sure they can never ever run for government again.

All of this because Taksin wanted his amnesty while poor red protesters are still rotting in jail because of him and his government toppled.

common on Fab4 don't be a bad loser. Sorry to state the bleeding obvious.

I'm not the loser here, Thailand is - what does scampers post add to the thread?

I do laugh at the number of posters on here who leap to scampers defence whilst he refuses to respond to any criticism. TVF has it's very own phra buddha scamper.

Just tell the general you are in Chiangmai and it would be impossible to drive to BKK whilst there is a curfew b/w 10 and 5.

No worries footix ! If necessary they will open an office in Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai or Mae Hong Son or Nan or or or.....

The tedious and tiresome " Thaksin is the root of all evil" mantra continues unabated.. So many foreigners buy into this short-sighted nonsense and one wonders how they will respond, if at all, when it becomes clear that the problems are far more complex than can be answered in glib one liners about Thaksin.

A vain and rather half-hearted effort to to raise the 'its not all about Thaksin' flag.

Was Surapong at the meeting so he's arrested already?

Am pretty sure Surapong was not at the meeting yesterday.

If my ears did not deceive me, Surapong was on the list of 100 announced just a little while ago.

The new much larger list will be published soon. We'll See.

Thai army summons ex-PM Yingluck, others in Thaksin clan

It would seem as if that saying " as you sow so ye shall reap"" is now coming to bear upon the Shinwatra clan and their ilk.

This whole current situation is down to Thaksin and his ilks relentless pursuit of absolute power and insatiable greed, nothing more nothing less.

Papa Thaksin with his Red Shirts would indeed have been a seamless metamorphic process from Papa Doc Duvalier and his Ton Ton Macoute enforcers had the Shinwatra clan continued their Thailand takeover plan.

Oh oh, he's found his "bumper book of despots" again. More mellifluous bile to follow, no doubt.

Poor guy his side is taking a beating.. you know if only Taksin was not so selfish about the amnesty. Now you know who you have to thank for all of this. I hope the redshirts realize this.

Just think - if they stupid Shiniwatra clan had actually proposed a moderate rice policy, and NOT tried to get an amnesty for Thaksin - PTP would still be in power and none of this would have happened. I bet there are a lot of folks saying. WT F did we do? We had it all!

Morons.

They are not really a clan. There is only one man at the centre of the web and that is Thaksin. The family members are just pawns to be moved around. As for having it all and screwing up, Thaksin has been behaving like this for nearly 10 years so the pattern is familiar.

Having it all and screwing it up is a Thai trait par excellence.

Various things have been said to describe this - 'shooting themselves in the foot', 'having a self-destruct button', 'plain lack of common sense', 'being incapable of NOT biting the hands that feeds you' etc etc.

Whatever it is, it is rife throughout Thailand - people get something good and through this weird and commonplace trait, screw it up sooner or later.

It's a complete inability to learn from experience, in my view, and that has cultural and mental health connotations.

I think you are close but I'll add this

It's the complete inability of the system to permanently remove those repeat offenders - we have a trough cycle of 5 years or to put it another way a line that was managed by the one in the sand for loyal services

Has Oak been taken in already? I don't recall seeing anything mentioned about him.

devaram Jatuporn is already detained, after yesterday's meeting.

Don't know, but Oak was not on the list of 100, IIRC.

Prayuth will lock all the opposing sides in one big room and let them sort it out between themselves . . . last person standing gets to form the new Govt . . . and betting will also be allowed in this one-off televised event! lol

On a more serious note, I'm expecting an announcement stating that the international arrest warrant for Thaksin has been resurrected.

Yes, agreed, it should be resurrected, but they still have to find someone who can write it in English ...!

I've already offered to do it for them free! smile.png

"Mark" was educated in the UK...surely he could draft this up ?

Why not? He's about the only one of those intellectual pygmies who would have the ability and knowledge - and isn't he a lawyer as well?

I would imagine a document like that would probably have a template which just needs the spaces filling in ...

The order was issued at 1:30 am. It asked the persons on the list to turn up a the Army Auditorium in Theves at 10 am.

Don't know if it's mis-spelt or how to pronounce it but with the list of people that is kinda funny :D

With some of the comments by some people on here maybe we will soon see a list of expats from this non anonymous public forum we call TV summoned to attend a meeting at an Army Auditorium . I think some on here really believe this forum is anonymous, stupid is as stupid does!

Rather rude and uncalled for but not unexpected thumbsup.gif

on another note - maybe I missed it but I haven't seen the ex finance minister Kitirat mentioned on any of the lists

Kitirat is on the list of 100.

Take a real good look at the clan. Google the history and list of kings of Lanna, & Chiangmai from around 1909 or so & then work out for yourself who is the pawn for whom. Same result though.

She is the current leader of thailand elected by the people. The court ruling to oust her was illegal. She has a moral and legal mandate to not show up as well as a natural instinct to save ones life?

Is there any guarantee she would not be arrested or killed?

Where is Jatuporn?

So you know better than the Constitutional Court judges? Who are you, oh, tiny speck on Thiavisa, to say whether or not they did not do their jobs properly and follow the law?

Do you SERIOUSLY think she would be killed when (or if) she turns up at Thewet? Maybe on Planet devaram, but not in the real world.

However, there's a good chance she could be 'arrested' (more likely worded 'detained' when she arrives), so she'd better pack a few dozen pairs of Gucci shoes and some nice designer clothes when she goes.

Jatuporn was detained yesterday and remains at the Army centre. Do keep up.

If Taksin had just stuck with Telecoms he'd probably be richer than Carlos Slim by now.

In Thailand if you are a very successful businessman you almost have to go into politics to join the club otherwise someone will take your business away. He had to enter politics. What he didn't have to do is what he did.

no one would comply because everyone knows that this arrest is politically motivated and lacks merit.

Who won't comply? Interpol? Wait and see lol
interpol will laugh in their face. What do Roy think happens when north Korea asks interpol for assistance? The current Junta lacks legitimacy.

Thai army are real heroes of Thai people to stop corruption

RESPECT 2 Prayuth 4 his super job of cleaning filth from Thai culture

Yes real heroes!

They only fight wars against their own unarmed people to prevent democracy and retain the power for the rich!!

Thai army is a private army for the rich - but they are to stingy to pay for them so they use our tax money instead!

3rd world Banana republic army!

You still just don't get it. This whole thing is nothing to do with democracy. It is just one very rich group trying to take power from another very rich group so they can put their snouts in the trough. All the little people are just pawns kept ignorant and told a lots of b**sh**.

exept one Rich group uses the ballot box abs offers a choice. The other hides behind the crown, stacks the judiciary and uses the army. The old general is bring used. His much is he getting paid?

I don't think so. This men know the name of the game in this country. The country needs a solution. I wonder what would happen to the North if the country was devided?

What would happen? Obviously it would be a disaster!

Imagine all those people who suddenly need a visa and workpermit in order to work in Bangkok, Pattaya, Rayong and so. Overcrowding in ChaengWattana and too many posters here complaining about that.

Your right as always Thailand is losing - the influence of the corrupt regime that has drained the money away from all the good projects that could have been implemented.

We are all free to use TVF in what ever way we choose(within the rules) and Scamper chooses not to enter into responding to any ones posts or do you believe that it should be your way? Its that sort of thinking that got the last government in so much trouble.
