ogb Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Has anyone come across these tires in Chiang Mai? (preferably 700 x 40 or larger) I've already tried: Velocity, Jacky, TCA, Bike Corner, Chaitawat, Arm Bike and Pasang bike shops Thanks
chiangmaiexpat Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 This might not be particularly helpful to you, but there seem to be only a handful of Schwalbe tyres available in Chiang Mai. I had no luck finding any Nobby Nic or Muddy Mary tyres in Chiang Mai. Cheers, CM-Expat
ogb Posted May 30, 2014 Author Posted May 30, 2014 Yes, I've noticed that, and I'm guessing that situation is the same throughout the country. Might just have to settle for something else for the time being.
rebo Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I have a brand new set 1 SCHWALBE Racing Ralph 57-559, 26x2.25 1 SCHWALBE Racing Ralph 62-559, 26x2.40 in original packing for original price 59.99 EUR = 2'700 THB (printed on packing) for sale. Can't imagine anything better for the upcoming rainy season in slippery muddy terrain. A friend brought 3 sets; I need only 2.Send me a PM if interested.
chiangmaiexpat Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Yeah, several shops seem to carry Racing Ralph and similar other tyres geared towards XC racing. However, both Nobby Nic and Muddy Mary are grip monsters, ideal for wet and muddy conditions. In fact, Muddy Mary is a specialised mud tyre, as the name says. I've seen Racing Ralph at Cheery Bike in CNX and Culture Cyclist, but I went for the grippier Maxxis Highroller which are OK, but the knobs have well-defined edges on the sides which makes cornering behaviour a bit weird. Now with a few 100 km on them it actually got better. Cheers, CM-Expat
bobfish Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Now its the wet season, try a Muddy Mary on the front for DH. Not seen many Schwalbe touring tyres like the Marathon anywhere in Thailand....
chiangmaiexpat Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Now its the wet season, try a Muddy Mary on the front for DH. I would if I could find one. Any pertinent hint leading to the successful capture of Muddy Mary or Nobby Nic tyres will be rewarded with the "Like" button. Cheers, CM-Expat
bobfish Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) Schwalbe Distributor for Thailand: CYCLE SPORT CO., LTD. 10100 Pombrab Bangkok Thailand Phone: 00662-621-7223~5 Fax: 00662-621-7226 [email protected] www.cyclesport-th.com OR try: As quoted in crazyguyonabike [dec2012]; "Fat free bike shops stock some Scwhwalbe marathon Plus in 700c only, which are now made in Malaysia, or Thailand now. No 26's available yet. Great shop, professional, manager Bert speaks english well. If you know you will need a certain size Schwalbe in advance they can order and have for you when you arrive. Some touring gear too. There's another bike shop 3 blocks away loaded with racing gear, bikes, a Fuji touring bike new (nice bike but 35K Baht) and also great resource for racks, parts, and repairs. Chaing rai has a good selection of bike shops and parts, better than Chiang mai." Edited June 6, 2014 by bobfish 1
moonoi Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 In Bangkok you can can try Km8 bike, they might even ship to CM for a small fee, not sure. http://www.km8bicycle.com/store/product/%E0%B8%A2%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%87_SCHWALBE-1912079-th.html Another alternative is Panaracer Ribmo, which isn't a bad touring tyre and easier to find than Schwalbe, but not sure it goes as wide as you want, biggest I've seen was 700cx35 1
