Need to get a kayak from Chiang mai to Kings Dam.....But how?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My friend and I are planning on taking our kayaks from Chiang Mai to the King's Dam (about 3 hours away) for a 10 day fishing camping trip. We usually have no problems with transportation because we throw our kayaks in his truck and go. However, his truck is in the shop and will be for another month.

We do not want to wait another month to go, and do not want to rent boats at the dam (we definitely want to take our own kayaks).

Is there a solution to this?

We were thinking that renting a truck and driver to take us down would be perfect. That way the driver could return the rental back to Chiang Mai the same day. As for being picked up, we would do the same thing....get the rented truck and driver to pick us up at the dam (and also have some Chiang Mai friends make sure this happens and we arent forgotten about at the dam!)

Does anyone know of a better way, or have a better idea?

Just get a red songtau. they will put the kayaks on top and you can travel in the back. You can arange at the same time for him to come and pick you up too.

you already have your answer

Definitely songtaw is the way to go, they've done kayak drop off and pick up for me.

I, and others, would greatly appreciate a trip report of your trip when your done!!! Good luck chasing the Giant Snakeheads
