3 pagodas pass

Featured Replies

Is it possible to enter Burma at 3 pagodas pass ?

Been there a couple of times and they have an immigration post there.

Sea Visions Burma, the link (over a year old) you gave to the Marek Lenarcik site says 'page not found'

Are there any updates as to restricted areas ?

Robby,

You're right, the url had changed since that post was made - here is the updated one:

Changes to the permitted and restricted areas in Myanmar

No updates at this time, Kachin state still out of bounds in most places, as well as Rakhine state anywhere away from the tourist enclave of Ngapali

Regarding Three Pagodas Pass - see this post here

Hope this helps, let us know if you still need help

cheers

Thanks SVB, just dreaming at present but in the next year or so.

I crossed there illegally 4 times in Dec 2012/Jan 2013. I basically went through the back gate with the locals who live like less than 50m from the Thai border as we needed a place to discuss business privately (I was purchasing some agricultural goods). Only spent 30 mins or less inside Myanmar on each occasion. I do hope that border crossing opens officially soon though - what I did was not a good idea, on the 3rd occasion I crossed a Myanmar border guard spotted me as I was heading back to the Thai side and pointed me in that direction, but no problems otherwise.
