quidnunc
Does anyone know if access to the airport road through the military base is operating as usual or if access is cut off for the duration?

cnx355
You can still use the short cut but you must enter by a diffewrent gate about 200 meters from the regular gate near the airport; then you follow the signs that make you go by a different route away from the military buildings. At the other gate they let you go in or out one direction at the time. The MP are carying machine guns. Edited June 7, 2014 by cnx355

Tywais
How can we discern the Uzi from the Kalachnikov? I want to know. Which would you rather it be? It's neither, it is an MP5. I posted my experience going through there a bit ago. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/728318-military-coup-chiang-mai/?view=findpost&p=7871263

I will side with the other experienced users of the route. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post. A kind and friendly word is always appreciated. The last dictatorship was in 2006 when they used the same route as today, if I recall correctly.
dru2
How can we discern the Uzi from the Kalachnikov? I want to know. Because they look really different. Very different in size, different magazine shape - try Google images for Christ's sake!
