Not likely to be many Argentina fans in Thailand, but if so, here's your spot.

messi's had a good qualifying campaign after sabella played him and the team more int he manner messi is used to at barca. think he scored 10 in 14 qualifiers, which isn't bad in anyone's book.

they're my favourites to win it. messi, higuain, aguero and di maria will take some stopping. hopefully gago is fit to play alongside mascherano in midfield.

I'm liking this.

Is this the year where Messi re-discovers his Barca form for the national side?

Will the little mercurial wizard lead Sabella's men to victory?

Hi Scarf. Let's hope Messi has a great Cup !

As Stevie pointed out, Messi was the Messi of Barca through the WC qualifiers. Plenty of goals and plenty of assists.

Gago could be key to be sure. Despite the fact that he definitely never excelled in Europe, he has been huge for Argentina through the qualifiers. He's coming off an injury so his form might be suspect. If he can't cut it Sabella has added Enzo Perez from Benfica to the squad. Perez had a great season in Portugal and could provide a big boost.

Argentina left out Banega and Tevez, right?

Yes. Two very talented footballers, but Banega has many problems, not the least of which is booze, and Tevez has got a big chip on his shoulder which has created issues before with the NT. I'm a big fan of both of them, but I have to say I'm not surprised or disappointed that they didn't make the squad. And in fact, despite their talent, they're not really needed in Sabella's set up.

They will also have a huge amount of travelling fan's,probably more than any other team,a very good side with one of the two best players in the world,i think they have a good shot at it,will be surprised if do not make at least semi final.

I would like to see them win for Messi but I have serious doubts. The special one has only been special fleetingly for Barca this season. How much of this is due to a team in decline is a matter of conjecture.

Sabella tinkered with some different formations in practice today. Even a 5-3-2 with Messi and Aguero up front. In addition to Rodrigo Palacio likely out with a bum ankle, it appears Higuain might not be fully fit as well. We will see.

The thought of that makes your mouth water eh.

Tasty indeed.thumbsup.gif
