Status depends on ethnic background and skin color more than money.

So 1 & 2 are correct, the rest is rubbish.

Thai sex workers rank above western foreigners.

Issan Thai below Lanna Thai.

Hill tribe at the bottom of the Thai ranking, arranged by skin color.

Then you get to rank non-Asian foreigners by skin color.

White at the top, brown in the middle, black at the bottom.

oh yeah asian foreigners get ranked above non asians.

Op which one are you ?....my guess is 11 ?......simply because you referred to those personages from Africa or the middle east as farangs, if you were truly at one with your Thainess and a real TV cultural expert you will know that a farang is a personage from a western country. :P

The easiest way to understand it is everyone who is not descended from a Royal bloodline is a commoner. Monks come second teachers come third closely followed by doctors. The Military is held in particular high regard and everyone else depends on how much money they have or what good they have done for society.

I won't go into the nationalities or races that are disdainful to Thais but you should know who they are.

Are you referring to nonasians as every one that's nit oriental Asian? Or is it excluding firings?

The OP appears to have forgotten Buddhist monks in his post. They might not look important from his barstool but they occupy a place of high privilege in Thai society... coffee1.gif

In the west, we call people that predict winning lottery numbers and promise "a happy live" for a fee of 5000 Bht charlatans or simply "white collar criminals".

The easiest victims are found among the most uneducated and poorest of the Thai population.

Cheers.

In the west we call belittling a group of 250,000 people for the actions of a few of them a sweeping generalisation.

Farangs are judged on who they are married to. Any poor girl or man married to an old farang will always been seen as a hooker whether she or he is or not. Any man or woman with a hooker will always be seen as the lowest of the low. They are seen by Thai men as to be used for the purpose and that's it, and pretty much all Thai women hate them.

As previously posted money talks and buys your education in this country and farangs are judged on how much their partners family have.

As for teachers being held in high regard , maybe in the boonies, but in industrial Thailand they are nobodies. Money talks.

Harsh, but true. Your reply will hit a few raw nerves on this forum.

Thais do have a pecking order like respecting the elders, elders in the family, people in position (not necessarily a good trait). But soon this pecking order will vanish when they get more westernizedcoffee1.gif

Wishfull thinking young man......
