60 billion baht needed to help Thai farmers for new crops

Featured Replies

Just how many of the posters on this thread are actually farmers of any sort, let alone living on a farming income.

Are foreigners allowed to be farmers in Thailand, is it not on that list of jobs only Thais can do?

Not all farmers are dirt poor, bloke across the road from me has 600 rai of sugarcane. Owns a nice Isuzu truck, has plenty of Kubota stuff and sent his daughters through university. I know only one example, but my Mrs has a favourite saying "Thai people have money too"., when I'm going off on one.

He must be quite rich to own 600 rai when mopst farmers own 20 rai or less and in a lot of cases have NO land of their own and have to rent.

10% of Thais own 90% of the land in Thailand. That means about 6.5 million own 462,000 sq km of Thailands 514,000 sq km and 60 million people own the other 51,140 sq km and none pay tax on that land.
