Transfer ownership

Featured Replies

Hey

How do I go about transfering, as in changing the name on the owner's blue book of the car? keeping in mind that there is no money involved.

Which documents are needed? ( can I download them?)

Money or not, does that matter regarding the kind of papers ?

Thanks

It is a small car, nothing fancy

Go to your nearest DLT with the new owner, fill out the papers etc.

Thanks for the swift reply

I understand that one doesn't need to go there if we send someone to do the paperwork ?

Yep !! but you have to sign as I remember 2 papers and the person whose name is in the book to sign the book.

Then the new owner of the motor can do the rest at the DLT.

If the "seller" doesn't want to go to the DLT then a power or attorney ( bai maub umnart) form will be required

Thanks to both of you and correct on both accounts

I went to see a car dealer this afternoon who gave me the necessary documents to be signed by both parties

The owner has to sign the book as well

They do need the print of the serial numbers of the vehicle and the engine

I'll bring that next week

One thing is kind of problematic though: this car was bought under the tax free scheme a couple of years ago.

Tax has to be paid if sold ( or given?) before a five year period, which is the case obviously.

Does anyone know whether that has to be settled before going to the DLT or does the tax office contact the owner later on?
