kayak phang nga bay

Featured Replies

does anyone know where to go in phang na to do some kayaking (and rent one)? not the expenisive farang tours you find on google, local guys that will rent out a kayak for a couple of hundred baht for half day

thx

I have been trying to get Kayak companies at Ao Por to do this, but they have not been very interested about the idea.

I just called to Chandara resort & Spa, but they don't rent kayaks for people who are not staying with them. http://www.chandara-resort.com/ They did mention that there is some shops which rent jet skis and could have kayaks as well.

The location would be quite good as there is Koh rat and Koh kai yai within kayaking distance.

For that area, probably the only viable option is to take your own kayak up there in your pick up. Ao Por, as Oilinki says, is a good place to set off from, as there are a few islands within easy paddling from there (Naka etc).

Pagallin corrected the island name. Koh Naka (yai & noi), not Koh kai as I wrote earlier.

i found the kayaking yesterday, its here

8.379184, 98.694752

drive to Phang Na, turn right towards Surat/Krabi at the lights. about 10km after the right turn, turn right at the sign to Ao Luk (not easy to see, keep a look out).

follow that road for about 15km, turn right at big sign to some home stay place. Follow signs to Lot Cave (Tham Lod), that's where the kayaking is.

we paid 350 each. you get a guide that does most of the rowing but you can ask to go without one if you want. there's 2 caves to see, its a nice day out.
