NCPO sets D-Day for implementation of the new van service regulation on July 1st

The speeding issue could be easily handled at low cost. Install transponders in the vans have a receiver at the monument and at 100 km intervals. Alternatively, make it mandatory for vans to have gps monitored by transportation officials. I was a professional driver for 27 years, US and Canada, pull into a weigh station they could tell me exactly how long it had been since I stopped at the last one. I refuse to ride in the vans anymore, death traps on wheels.

I agree. I've stopped riding in vans and buses. I will occasionally use the third class train between ChIang Mai and our village out in the middle of Khun Tan Nowhereville. It's an interesting trip for folks who come to visit us. Otherwise I take our car. I try to limit my motorcycle riding. In the United States I absolutely loved to drive. Now - I hate it. It's just sad. Moving violations are not enforced, and until they are, the carnage will continue.

Ahem...er anti coup as I am, er as a resident of Victory Monument, I must admit - grudgingly - that regulating the minibuses in this area would be a good idea.

Agreed, though it pains me to agree with a Millwall fan. But surely, that's just window dressing, what's needed is proper regulation of the long distance mini vans and buses.

Forget the parking issue. They are killing people like flies due to speeding and

lunatic driving, that is what the NCPO needs to control somehow. And also

make it a mandatory 10 year sentence for fleeing the scene of an accident.....

I was close whistling.gif

cheesy.gif ... and you will notice that the poster quotes her/himself in her/his profile right after quoting the great G.B. Shaw. Wasn't it Winston Churchill who referred to a person he'd met as 'A modest little person, with much to be modest about' ? hahaha I think we have a good specimen here w00t.gif

Uhhh ok, thanks for your pithy observation. And as a forum board is generally used

to air ideas or your dislike of an idea, what is exactly your position on the van issue ??

Here let me throw in a guy laughing icon, to show that I also have the astonishing power

to amuse myself................ cheesy.gif

You are the first person to object to my follow the money statement. Does that indicate

you have had some financial problems here ?? Cleaned out by a bar girl perhaps ??

Wow, that's one vicious tirade, lol, I must have touched a nerve... you do realize that when we over-react to criticism, it kind of proves that said criticism was obviously justified ? whistling.gif

It's fantastic here the way they bring these things into force virtually immediately. If this was Europe...they would say something like...."This will come into effect from the 1st of July 2016"

And let's get cameras everywhere etc. Lest not forget why many people like it here

If you consider modest regulations to slow down the vans an infringement of your freedom then ride the vans, I don't care. I will not. These vans speed, they are overloaded and improperly loaded ie; freight loaded in the aisles, baggage loaded above the level of the seat back and way too much weight on the back wheels, the last time I rode in one the luggage was coming forward every time the driver hit the brakes. In the event of an accident they fold up like a tin can with no working doors to exit from. Good luck to you, I hope you are never injured in one of these things.
