Mine was the Ramones, got to meet them, my friend was the promoter, then would say Roger Waters from Pink Floyd was brilliant, really great.

Yours?

1972 Rolling Stones with Stevie Wonder as the lead up act! 3500 person venue (Winterland SF)....$5 ticket price

5/11/77 The Clash on the White Riot Tour

2006 Sigur Ros at Somerset House in London

1980 The opening night of The Wall at Earls Court

Many more wonderful memories and one of the things I miss here. Original live music

Roger Waters - the wall in Berlin, incredible event, even with power going out and a few other things

Individual concert I would say 'The Who' at Wembley with Zak Starkey on drums. Some of the festivals are superb too. My particular favourite was Reading (UK) in 1998.

Best overall live act though for me for just shear fun & energy would be ACDC.

Mine was the Ramones,

I've lost count of how many times I've seen them. "LOBOTOMY! LOBOTOMY!" in the mosh pit. Ah memories....

Too many good ones to list the best. Slayer, The Damned, Public Enemy ( 7 times), Schoolly D, KRS-1, Henry Rollins, The Prodigy, Eric B and Rakim, Motorhead, Big Audio Dynamite, The Cramps, The Specials, LL Cool J, Stetsasonic were up there though

But the loudest? Surprisingly Sigue Sigue Sputnik at Norwich UEA. They certainly went up to 11.

Bob Dylan at the docks club in Hamburg, very intimate venue.

Madness the first Madstock fantastic.

Jimi Hendrix 1968, Newark, NJ, during the Martin Luther King Riots (Somebody's house is burning down down)

Nirvana unplagged at the Louvre in Paris and the best live band ever imho Rage against the machienes.

Elvis when he was good, friendly, and magnetic.....

Dire Straits - same set they had in Basel..... (catch it on Youtube)

Chicago twice & one time Chicago and Beach Boys.....

+ a concert I didn't really want to go to......sitting on the green and watching Elton John put on a 3 1/2 hour show - masterful

And Jimmy Buffet - just for the fun of it - a good fun time show and the girls start drinking 3-4 hours early and falling out of their coconut bras in the parking lot......

Nat King Cole & Roy Orbison (different shows) in a small intimate setting - Roy is little and with no effort just filled the atmosphere with notes only he could master.....

Ben Vereen before his accident was dynamic.....

Toss up between Led Zeppelin 'Song Remains the Same' show in summer of '77 or Pink Floyd on their last tour in 1994...

The Rolling Stones with Roy Orbison as the opening act.

Perth, Australia 1965.

Roy was a standout, as was Mick's padded sock down his trouser leg.

Jethro Tull 1978 & 1980 in Atlanta, best performance ever. Saw the Stones in Mobile, Al, 1971. Five of us went and took a cigar box full of rolled joints, must have been over 200. Don't remember driving back.

Hendrix last one at Cambridge Circus in London.

Procul Harum as the warm up with their one and only hit.

Then Jimi, 15 min drum solo while they worked on the amps.

Ended with usual poetry reading from the back of his guitar, in between playing it with his teeth, and finally trashing it and the amps.

Don't remember the rest of the night. Whatever.

^ yes forgot about U2. Leeds 1990 ish, fantastic

Undertones in '82 or Iggy Pop in '84. Also good were the Feelies 20 years ago and Prince 10 years ago.

Vienna 1786, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri - duelling harpsichords.

A battle of the Giants - the free spirit genius vs the grand technical master

For contemporary I give it to Jose Itirbi duet with his daughter in the Film "My Daring Daughters" or the Welsh/Zulu duet in the movie "Zulu". For live performance I nominate Verdi's Aida played in Cremona Italy 1993. Many thanks to the benevolent Giovanni Carutti. For hard rock Black Sabbath rip my friend.

1970, fillmore east. paul butterfield, elvin bishop and bb king. show started at 11pm and stumbled out at 5:30am.

10 December 2007 O2 Arena London...Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert...

Prior to that great day I never had the chance to see Led Zep in concert

at any time because things always got in the way...military service & a war,

wrong place-wrong time, intergallactic cosmological connundrums etc.

Looking back on times past today I did see quite a few great concerts;

Clapton, Deep Purple, Hendrix, Spirit, Savoy Brown and others however...

Led Zep live in concert always escaped me.

That all changed when the missus & I were on Bali covering some UN world

environmental summit that only accomplished setting up another summit

meeting, when an old friend and audio engineer called and said he has 6

passes to the gig at the O2 Arena and two had me & the missus names on

them.

Would we care to get to London asap?

I had waited 39 very long years to see Led Zep. This time the the entire

universe was in agreement that I could finally have my wish granted.

Fourteen long songs and two encores later I was, quite simply, blown

away. The missus reaction?...Make that two blown away people.

Dire Straits Perth 1981, Debuted song Telegraph Road.

Pink Floyd Perth 1988, huge stunning show

U2 Perth 1989, great rock and roll the whole audience was with them

Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker Band and Charlie Daniels Band at the Capital Center, Largo Maryland in 1974. Also Led Zeppelin in the same venue in 1976. Great memories.

I also took my wife to Oz fest ( Ozzy Osbourn) the first month she was in the States in 1999. Naked women and ganja everywhere. I think she was in shock for a month.

I think around 1990, Hockenheim Open Air:

Simple Minds, Tina Turner, Jethro Tull, Chris de Burgh, Die Toten Hosen, Alannah Miyes, Gianna Nannini, Fury in the Slaughterhouse, and many more.

Dire straits in Munich in 1991

And 3 time brainaddams

And one time deep purple

Smoke on the water

Then I saw status qo nena

And Vanessa may!

Your first and second last paragraph without Nat King Cole, brilliant, your fourth, heard a better noise flushing the toilet.
