TAT says it will reach goal of 2.2 trillion baht via tourism next year

BANGKOK, 30 June 2014 (NNT) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is confident that it will achieve its previous goal of reaching a tourism income total of 2.2 trillion baht in 2015.

Thawatchai Arunyik, the TAT governor, has revealed that the TAT is set to hold big events throughout the next year in line with the policy of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) to return happiness to Thais.

Separately, TAT Deputy Governor Chutaporn Rerngron-asa noted that TAT is shifting its focus to new potential markets, such as eastern European countries and the Commonweath of Independent States, as the first five months of this year has seen 20 percent growth in these locations.

Actually, it is about 10% of current GDP. 2.2 trillion is in Baht

TAT are back in town with their stupid BS statistics that they always fail to live up to.

Very easy to do since no one can know exactly how much each and every tourist spends. It is all just a big guess by TAT and the guess will be whatever they predict plus a bit more.

In all my time here, TAT has done nothing but organize non-events, make predictions thaat have never come true, and tried to show that wishful thinking creates an end result. In my opinion, they are possibly the most corrupt ministry in the whole titillating totem pole. They organize non-events -- no one EVER knows where the money went or who benefitted -- and they produce numbers using a combination of creative bookkeeping and alchemy.

They are much more like drunken cheerleaders than accountants, and are laughable at best. Many Thais would do anything to be on the TAT -- they have no measurable goals, no mandates, no accountability, and no practical function beyond occupying space and uttering nonsense.

What did happen to the former TAT boss and her daughter who were involved in that massive Bangkok Film Festival fraud? I believe the Americans they were in cahoots with were jailed but I guess the Thais were wealthy enough to avoid that.

Just how many tourism gov/agencies has Thailand got ??? TAT----sports and tourism ?? TO# ?? I know there are several connected---but what are they all doing ??

These have to be seriously reviewed/disbanded---Have one agency that is accountable, this 6 Billion annual + is way far too much hence the stupidity of remarks made every so often. With a lot less budget, it may well have to be used with more thought.

Re -cap--------when you have too much money to spend that is not yours , it is easily used for whatever the whim of the moment.

Statistics has nothing to do with it. It's numbers. Inflated numbers. I don't know why people here keep trying to give statistics a bad name. Why would TAT need to do anything with statistics?

Just to remind you that this said budget has been given year in year out. If it was one prediction most posters would maybe be optimistic, and prefer like you to wait and see.

Having heard their monthly mouthing over the years --the theme is---Here we go again more cr#p. So maybe you are not aware of the spending by TAT, and their promotion records.

You will my friend not hear of many good words from posters on TVF about TAT, they are aware. Look up any topic related to TAT and get the % of negative remarks, not a bad pointer if the % of posts are negative near proves the point of any topic.

Got my douts if what i hear from my lawer friend , TAT are to stop visa on entry next year, you will have to apply for a visa before you leave your home country. .Was toldTAT is to improve the quality of Tourists .

Judging by most of the posts here I wonder why everyone is so negative especially those that live here..

Those that come as Tourists well you are free to not come back ,many other places in the world to visit.

TAT is a tourist organization...you know marketing,promoting Thailand.

Just because you don't like Thailand,Thai people,Thai politics,Thainess doesn't mean that Thailand can't try to promote the tourism industry after a bad season due to demonstrations on the streets of Bkk.

I like Thailand..I still think many tourists will keep coming to Thailand, .....

stats next year will probably be better than this past year.
