Ranong>Kawthaung Non O 90 day stamp - anything new?

Featured Replies

Going to do the final entry on my Mulitple Non 0 (marriage) for a 90 day stamp in a few days at the Ranong to Kawthaung border crossing, is anything new needed? eg showing cash?

Also if its rainy I may do the andaman club boat instead of the long tail, anyone know of the current boat timetable?

Thanks.

I am going to move your topic to the Phuket forum you may get more answers there.

OP, even if you go there using your own car/motorbike or public transport, why don't you call one of the Phuket based visa run companies? Contact details can be found through the Phuket Gazette website, go to the yellow pages. They will be fully up to date.

TVR (phuket-visarun) just told me that no Phuket Visa run companies go to Ranong anymore because they only give stamp if you have a Visa already, they go to Satun. They said My Non O will be ok but need to do myself, thats ok I do it myself anyway.

Also called Andaman Club and they also said the visa runs have all changed and can not get stamp if you do not have a Visa, I told her I have Non O she said its OK, I asked if any extra documents or anythting were required and she helpfully asked the immigration office while I was on the phone and they said no just need passport with Visa. So it should be the same at immigration on the pier if I don't end up using Andaman Club, I hope!

Immigration @ Ranong can't be making much money now.. =)

Niether can a lot of visa run companies.

We went to Ranong last weekend to use our last entry of a three-entry tourist visa. We went over to the Andaman Club and returned approx two hours later.

The Thai Immigration guys were friendly and the extension was easily approved and was free (unlike the Myanmar entry which was 1900 THB for two). We were not asked for proof of funds. Money was not mentioned at all.

Re: timetable of ferry, can't give you precise details but it is definitely running at 9am until well after 5pm. However, we read somewhere that the Thai Immigration office closes at 5pm. That doesn't really make sense as you need it to leave and enter Thailand and why run the ferry if nobody can enter or leave Thailand. Nevertheless, we did our trip over and back at lunchtime, just in case.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Very, very useful thread, at least for me. Every high season, I used to book Ranong visa runs for tourists who were running out of time, having entered the country on a 30 days visa free entry stamp. In many cases, they just simply assumed first they could easily extend their visa in country. Oh yes, if your English is fluent and you read this forum every day, you might think: "why are these people so stupid, not getting a tourist visa". But as a rule they are German/French/whatever speakers, for whom the flow of up to date information is not so easily accessible. Ask yourself, wouldn't you be fumbling around if 90% of the information on the internet would be in French? In general, there are even so many people who are only 20+ or 30+ who are not so much up with the times. You would be surprised how many young people just take cash when going to Thailand, instead of relying on ATM's.

I will hate to have to send these people to Penang to get a tourist visa there, hehe hope I won't have to send them to Savannakhet. But we'll see how it pans out. Right now rules might be interpreted very rigidly in places, might change in time. People making a 30 days airport entry who change their ticket, or possibly had a ticket exceeding the 30 days to start with, or just cancelled the ticket, should be allowed at least 2 extra 30 days land border entries. Tourists travelling around independently without a fixed plan do spend a lot of money.

Don't know why you paid 1,900 baht to enter Myanmar. Should be US$10 per person, or 500 baht .

Andaman Club charge 950b per person, includes the ferry transfer, service fee, immigration fee all included.

If you go on your own from the Sapan Pla Pier you just pay the boat driver and then US$10 + copy passport to Myanmar immigration.

Still a little worried about this despite being told by Andaman Club immigration and by another Visa company it will be OK!

There is a report in the forum of someone being denied exit at Ranong with a Non B as they didn't have a work permit, but I have still not had any reports from anyone with a Non O multi entry (marriage) either good or bad.

I will take copy of marriage cert and copy wifes id card just in case, but any recent report of a 90 stamp on a Non O would be appreciated, thanks.

No worries, you are completely legit and seem to be using the visa as intended.

Thanks, I think so too.

I was going to post the same question alphason until i found this post in a search. I'm off to Ranong end of this month and had the same concerns, but your phone call to Andaman club has made me relax. Can't be bothered with the hassles of the long tail boat guys, will definitely be using Andaman club. Relax drink a singha, non-o is ok.......for now.

Did the border crossing yesterday 7/7/14 at Sapan Pla Pier.

Its very quiet there now, only 2 in front of me in the exit queue just before midday.

Normally the exit stamp takes seconds but this time it felt like 5 minutes, they checked every page but did stamp me out ok and back in later with no problems, no questioning, no extra paperwork and no need to show money.

It seems they are only stamping Non B with work permit or Non O only. In front of me was a guy with a 3 entry tourist Visa, he was taken to the office, he was married with child in Thailand and had his wife with him, he was in the office for maybe 20 minutes before being allowed to exit and only I think because his wife was there. I don't think they are normally accepting Tourist Visa entries(?). They are doing the checking at exit to make sure you will be allowed back in.

The touts hanging around there said also this border can't be used for tourists anymore.

Many thanks for posting this info, it will be very useful for a lot of people, and this thread also clears up some queries in the past month about why Phuket based visa run companies are no longer going to Ranong.

Not a big thing, but I can clear that mystery up - Thai and Burmese staff working at the Andaman Club also use the ferry service out to Thahtay Kyunn where the resort is located, and they travel outside of normal immigration hours depending on shifts...

I could conceivably call my friend at immigration in Ranong and ask for you.

When do you need to go ?

If you are interested, PM me kap wai.gif

And you don't have to sit in a long tail boat with no protection in all weathers. Club Andaman has an a/c cabin cruiser, just sit and relax for 20 mins. Last return boat leaves Ranong around 1630. they will wait for you to get your stamp if you are not staying overnight.

Every hour from 9am until the last return boat ( if not staying overnight) leaves Ranong Andaman Pier at four thirty. Straight over and back about 30 mins e/w. Boat will wait while you get stamp.

Retirement visa, if so how many entries, or extension based on retirement?

I just have my first year extension and 1 multiple rentry that is now finished. I simple want to go to Malaysia about once every 2 months for a holiday
