Good Second Hand Store? Flea Markets in Chaing Mai?

Featured Replies

Hello All,

We've found the big second hand place near Nong Hoi Market on Chiang Mai -Lampun Road.

But are there are any other places, or weekly sales/ flea markets with all sorts of used stuff in or around Chiang Mai?

Thank You!

The weekend outdoor market near The Prince Royals college can be fun. Its Sat and Sun, from ~8am to ~1pm.

most of the second-hand places sell overpriced junk that has been sitting in open air places with an overhang and is mildewed. get a Thai friend to search on the internet what you are looking for as there can be real gems. but you won't find them in 2nd hand shops.

Have a look at Chiang Mai Buy Sell Swap (or something like that) on Facebook and also search for other Chiang Mai based Facebook groups selling stuff.

may be a little truth in the above, but not entirely........ I have had about 3 guests now, over the years that have literally found some very spectacular stuff over at the Prince Royal mkt mentioned. Instances like back home, where somebody is cleaning out the old house where grandma died, and so on.

One woman found a spectacular find....... a leather bound hand sewn book that was maybe 12 " wide and 3" top to bottom. Inside all hand written in Burmese text and on sa paper sheets someone had written the bible. This thing had been in someones attic box for years and years..... how much??? .....she paid 300 baht for it..... turned down 2000 baht from me.....

and its a lot of fun just looking and rummaging......

No one expects perfection from these type of markets.

Not Chiang Mai, but for those of you who like these kind of places the Train Market in Bangok (behind Seacon Square) is a great place for browsing for second hand and retro stuff, and has some terrific eating and drinking places dotted around.

It's got a really relaxed buzz to it. But so far not a lot of farang to be seen.

Next time you're in Bangkok....
