Need Apple Advise / I-Mac

Featured Replies

Hi there

I got an old I-Mac OS-X 10.4.11 / 2GB RAM / 2.4 GHZ Dual Core Processor from a friend.. I am a Windows guy, but interested in getting used to Apple. Can anybody point me in the right direction, please. Is it worth upgrading RAM / OS? Can it be done? How far to go and what would approx. cost be. I live in Pattaya. Thank you very much. MS>

The latest OS is Mavericks (OSX 10.9). It will work on an (Mid 2007 or newer) iMac, with 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of available hard drive space.

Click on the Apple icon in the upper left hand corner to check (about this Mac) when your iMac was made.

Then, you will need to find/install a copy of Snow Leopard OSX 10.6. to get access to the iTunes / App store.

PS: Snow Leopard is $19.99 USD and Mavericks is free.

You're welcome. Let us know your progress.

I had a 2007 Imac, can't remember if early or late 2007 but it got hung on upgrading ... if I remember it was because of the 2 GB ram was not enough!

You should be able to connect with the Mac website and that will tell you, if it is upgradable or not.... Good luck! wink.png
