Four assailants reenact grenade attack at PDRC protest rally

BANGKOK: -- Commando police Tuesday escorted four of the seven suspects involved in the M79 grenade attack at Ratchaprasong intersection to reenact the crime they committed.

The attack in February this year at an anti-government protest site killed two child and a woman when the M79 grenade landed in front of Big C superstore near Ratchaprasong where the children went shopping with their parents.

Four have been arrested while three others are still at large.

In the reenactment today, the four suspects said they used three vehicles and fired from Pratunam flyover. They said they received the weapon 20 minutes before the attack from a “puyai” (senior). They were not paid in cash but with two guns.

The arrest warrants for the seven suspects was a follow-up investigation by the police after the arrest last week of Narongsak Plai-aram together with a haul of war weapons who was suspected of firing M79 grenades against People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) protesters at Sawankaloke road and at Shinawatra 3 building in March.

Police claimed that they now knew the masterminds who were responsible for supplying war weapons to the gang and for plotting the attacks against the anti-government protesters.

But their identifies are kept confidential as police are launching a manhunt against them.

Manhunt with live ammunition sounds like a good idea.

Hopefully that it is correct that they know who the mastermind is and that he/ they are prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Killing innocents for 2 guns, sicko's!

I guess under military rule the death penalty is allowable?

I wonder how far up this goes.

guess we will never know

All the way because the previous government did not go after these people as they were against the anti government protesters. Not doing anything about these kind of attacks is the same as sanction terrorism. So even if they cant prove a direct link.. the indirect link is there.

They caught all the PDRC guys with weapons.. but never any on the other side...... Now that the army is here they get caught.. anyone with half a brain knows that it means they were protected.

Most posters are either red or yellow apologists, and it's easy to see which side of the mule you are braying for.

"Not doing anything about these kind of attacks is the same as sanction terrorism. "

You are correct -- what about the PDRC guards who kidnapped a man, tortured him and held him prisoner for several days, and then threw him in a river to drown. Or the PDRC guards who stabbed a man into a coma in front of his pregnant wife for bumping sacred PDRC road cones? Or the PDRC guards who hels a man by the thraot in front of cameras for wanting to enter a voting station?

"Not doing anything about these kind of attacks is the same as sanction terrorism. "

I suppose the Red Shirt apologists that were blaming Suthep or the PDRC for shooting at themselves will show some degree of integrity and acknowledge they were wrong, no?

Another sad red sheeple trying to defend his fallen idols. So we can all see clearly which side you are on, the losing side I might add.....

almost right, what we have here are the red shirt apologists like yourself and those that simply disagree with the red shirts and their methods. Its easy to claim these people as yellows but it is simply not true as most dont like the yellows either. What the ptp/reds did was simply wrong and the majority of people thought so as well. The difference is those of us that dont like the reds also didnt agree with what the guards did while you lot keep claiming innocence of the reds that killed innocent people, even now when they are being named and arrested. Seems you just cant help your red indoctrination but then we have come to expect that from your side.

Couldn't agree more seajae.

Why do foreigners choose to get so vocal about politics here? After all, the reds are a complete bunch of crooks and as for the yellows ... they're just as bad!

Never trust a politician! Nearly all are corrupt, in it for themselves, in every country, around the world.

Don't hold your breath waiting, AleG.

Not only do they lack integrity but also the gift of rational thinking. Cannot believe there are still red supporters on TV who think that if you are against the reds, you must support the yellows.

Statements like that really do show that they are not the sharpest knives in the drawer. biggrin.png

According to the BP the 4 divs in custody have been singing like the proverbial canary down a coalmine. Would you believe they fingered the head of UDD security and secretary to the Yingluck cabinet's interior minister, who is now suing the pants off anybody revealing this. Who was head of interior ministry? Turns out it wasn't the PDRC bombing themselves after all, who'd a thunk it.

Reported elsewhere that the trigger puller cried when he confessed saying that he didn't think firing grenades in the general direction of protesters from a moving vehicle would kill anyone.

Einstein sure knew what he was talking about.

Looking more like state sponsored terrorism by the day.

Propagandists have their own, unique, code of behavior so don't hold your breath.

I think you mean 'stool pigeon' http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/stool%20pigeon

Canary in a coal mine is an entirely different thing. http://www.wisegeek.org/what-does-it-mean-to-be-a-canary-in-a-coal-mine.htm#didyouknowout

In the case of civilian defendants the military courts are applying the civilian Penal Code, not military law. The main difference is that there is no right of appeal in a military court. I think standards of evidence are probably different too. There is no jury in either system. Anyway the Penal Code provides for the death sentence for murder with premeditated intent. They didn't know who they were going to murder but they harboured the premeditated intent to kill anyone who happened to be in their line of fire.

However, the death penalty will almost certainly not be applied in this case because the defendants are showing remorse by apologising to their victims families (LOL) and seems to be cooperating with the investigation to implicate others. Both factors are very important considerations. They will most likely get life which counts as 50 years for parole purposes.

The way this is heading it looks like the beheaded one actually might have been the 3rd hand himself. Somewhat ironic but not in the least unexpected. Next question is did this booze-hound pay for the terrorism out of some perverse desire to see Thaksin as dictator, or did he receive payment from you know who for the terror campaign? It's going to be an interesting few weeks.

I notice there is no mention at all of the sec to interior ministry in Yingluck cabinet in any news any more. Is this a result of lawsuits he is filing against all and sundry for revealing his actions?

And all that time DSI was doing their job against the PDRC... ?

That was called good governance by the US and EU, who are still hoping for the return of the 'good' times.

Einstein sure knew what he was talking about.

If Einstein were alive today he would be using this guy as living proof of his theory of evolution by natural selection. This trigger happy paid goon being one of the weaker specimens, of course.

And his mother probably did not think there would be any long term damage when he was dropped on his melon either.

The ThaiRouge face the same outcome as their employers, the PTP. Self destruction. clap2.gif
