icloud locked

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I bought an iphone 5s off a lad in the UK which is locked to icloud, it turns on etc just asks for the i passwords etc

I did not really know much about it at the time just thought I would get it unlocked here in BKK, anyway after a trip to the mall and asking a few people they have all said its not do-able...

Expensive paper weight? I was going to sell it but don't want anyone to get ripped off like I did, what should I do with it? is there anyway to contact the original icloud owner of it?

Cheers

Sounds like it's been locked using the " Find iPhone " program, in which case it's either stolen or there was a hacker recently who had somehow accessed the "Find iPhone " codes and was locking peoples phones up and demanding a ransom be paid. I think the only thing you can do is to take the handset to Apple and see what they can do. If you think it might have been stolen then best place for it is the bin I think though.

I see, I did notice when I was looking around on ebay for unlock codes for it people selling them in the same condition locked going for a fair wack, I do now know the guy who I bought it off at all really but at the same time who knows it could well be nicked, if I could find the owners email or contact details off the phone Id contact them to see but is that possible?

I did read about hackers doing that asking for ransoms etc... madness!

Thanks for the info
