Wholesale beverage outlets in Jomtien?

We have one on Sai 2 across from the Rompo market some 50m to the south - but hard to get to and very sour staff.

Another on Theprasit near Thapraya but often hard to park.

A new one on Theprasit near the busy soi 10, lots of traffic.

My question: any other in Jomtien where it is easy to park and OK staff?

Are these places really cheaper than Makro?

I usually buy soda there, where you can return the bottles. Don't think Makro has that service.

Is there a such thing as wholesale in Thailand? And if not, how do they get away with that? When shop owners are shopping at Makro and Big C, for their supplies, there is something wrong with this picture. Anybody have any explanations for this?

Fair enough. I've not noticed such a service at Makro but I haven't actually looked for it either. I generally buy cans which the people who collect the trash in my building are delighted to recycle.

I forgot the details but once you've paid the deposit for the case and bottles you just pay 130b to get a refilled set with the bigger bottles compared to the types you buy in Makro etc

Deposit for a crate of soda or drinking water is 200 - 220 ฿; 130฿ for a crate of soda is sheer daylight robbery.
The normal price is 120฿, drinking water 60฿ ( Singha brand ).
Edit: 1 single bottle 5฿ deposit

Not sure of the current situation, but I recall a bar owner years ago explaining one factor of the high cost of drinks he served was that the booze they bought was not sold at a wholesale discount in Thailand.

As you say, if genuine wholesalers existed and if they did not require customers to show them a proper retail license, then everyone could buy from them and pay less than at the supermarkets.

Shop owners shop at makro and big c because can get a tax invoice. For those not paying taxes, they shop at the fresh markets and the so called wholesalers.

Even more strange is that often 7-11 prices are same or even cheaper than wholesaler and/or makro .

I get water deliver directly by coke only prices directly from coke are higher than at makro, about 8 baht cheaper at makro per pack

It is an absolute scam. A way for the industry to cut out the middleman and increase profits. No wonder some of the richest people in thailand are in the beverage and beer industry. Even if you have the license, the discounts are so marginal. I know people who own stores and pay near retail for their products. These companies would be run out of any other civilized country with these policies. But, here they prosper and people get the shaft. Another example of institutionalized corruption.

When my (ex) GF operated a restaurant, she went to a so-called wholesaler on Thepphrasit. Her "discount" on sodas and alcohol was almost undetectable. As others have pointed out, there is really no wholesale industry just as there's no such thing as price competition at the big stores. You will see the same product on sale everywhere for the same price. Streetside food vendors buy all their stuff at Big C or Makro, and the hardware at roadside "markets", which I think are not always cheaper than Big C etc.
