I plan on going back to the USA for about 1 1/2 months, however I do not have friends or relatives to stay with. I have been looking at furnished housing options in the USA for short term period of less than 2 months, however after researching there don't seem to be any options but the following

1. Airbnb - never tried before, but pricing is good - however not exactly what i'm looking for

2. Stay at a motel 6 / extended stay america / candlewood suites

3. Cannot rent an apartment as most have a minimum rent lease of 3 months and not furnished

4. Corporate furnished housing starts at $3,000 a month or more

I look forward to any ideas or suggestions you guys might have regarding this matter.

You could look at craigslist shared housing for where you're going. In some cities there are often short term roommate situations for a variety of reasons. For example, a house with four rooms and one roommate is going away for some months but coming back. Or the lease is ending soon but there is an empty room. Lots of people hurting economically in the U.S. so if there is lease obligation this is a way to cover it. Very high risk if you hate the roommates or they hate you but cheapest possible option for what you're looking for. They might have an opening for four months and even if you're staying for your time period you might offer a premium and they might take it and it still might be your cheapest option compared to even AirBB.

In Las Vegas there's many short term places. You'll get a studio or 1 bedroom with kitchen for up to $200 per week. I have lived in Vegas for up to 2 months and found several places, also with security gates. If Vegas is the place for you then pm me.

Extended stays are the best. Not talking about the chain. Candlewood is nice. You can cook your own food. Otherwise you will be eating Micky D or expensive. places. Prices vary from place to place.

Car rental or taxis are a consideration too.

I stay at Candlewood and rent cars myself but it all depends on your budget.

Lots of hotels have heavily discounted weekly and monthly rates.

Back when I was a traveling salesman (living abroad and virtually homeless in the USA), I found some great campgrounds that had nice bungalows with pretty decent weekly and monthly rates- but they were usually out in the sticks.  Which was appealing to me, living in a high density city in Asia at the time.

Lots of your answers will depend on your location and transportation options.  If you're renting a car, buying a car (or a scooter), you'll have a lot more options than if you're counting on public transport.
