Buying a sewing machine online?

Featured Replies

I'm staying on Samui with the girlfriend, and she wanted to get her hands on sewing.

She took a course before, and made some simple dresses so she has some experience.

I would like to order online, because I don't really want to go all the way to Bangkok, or use a day to look around Surat Thani.

Naturally, I checked eBay and Amazon, but everything on there is for 110V.

It's pretty difficult to find a legit looking store that will ship a 240V compatible machine to Samui.

Many manufacturers recommend against the 240V to 110V transformers, and I would rather avoid going that path.

First choice is Juki, second choice is Brother.

This simple HZL-12Z looks good enough.

The 6000-8000B range would be good.

Lower is better, but I don't want something that's terrible build and will break after a year.

Does anyone have any experience or advice about buying a Sewing Machine?

Recommendations for a cheap, simple but reliable Juki or Brother are also welcome.

Thanks, to you all!

One of the TV sponsors has them: lazada.co.th

Check out Tesco and Big C as well before you order on line.

We bought a good one in Tesco about a year ago.

You may be lucky! We had been looking for ages as well and then one day Tesco had them in stock.

Of course with Tesco's abismal supply chain and inability to keep any of its shelves fully stocked you will have to be lucky.

Worth looking though just in case!!

Missus bought a singer machine at Maenam a few months ago. About the 7000bht mark.

Ring road at maenam,  fair way back from the traffic lights on rhs, coming from Bophut.

Shop has a SINGER sign out front and is near Samui cable tv shop.

Hope this helps.

Is the Singer shop just for Singer machines?

I'll take a look at Tesco and Big C, however, I don't think I saw any the last time I was there.

Thanks for the input, everyone! You guys are awesome.

If I find any good places on Samui, I'll post back here.
