source?

It is true that English bookies like Stan James, Bet 365, William Hill etc, have made England slight favourites just ahead of Italy, France, Holland, Spain and Germany for Euro 2008.

Unfortunately, I can't reveal my source. :o

well, and why not ? they have the potential. especially if Scolari accepts their invitation as their new coach - he said he is honoured and would consider. he's lead Brazil to victory in 2002 and then in 2004 Portugal almost to victory in Euro cup....

now, that would be interesting !

hmmm I was serious, NOT joking ....

about Scolari's refusing - well, anyway without him too they can do better. let's see in Euro '08 - they've got WOrld cup at least once, it won't harm to add Euro trophy to it at least once as well. :o I genuinly wish them all the best !

well, as I recall I've read about it in News on World Cup official page:

"I was proud to be invited to be trainer of England. After July 31 I am free and the Portuguese Football Federation is also free," the Brazilian told a news conference.

.....

'Big Phil', as he is known in his native Brazil, pulled out of talks two months ago with the Football Association about becoming Sven-Goran Eriksson's successor after the finals.

Yes, he said "one day" :D

Just to clarify. England wanted to name the new coach before the world cup began They asked Scolari, and he said wait until after the world cup. England wanted an answer straight away, so he turned them down and so they offered a 4 year contract to Steve McClaren. So, if available and the timing is right, he could be up for it in 4 years. :o

Did England really ask Scolari to coach their Nationalteam?? :o:D

Yes but he replied that after Portugal he wanted to coach a team with a bit of a chance of winning .....Iraq,North Korea,Upper Volta....... :D

Don't forget 'The Faroe Islands' They've got an easy run, with Scotland in the group. :D

What is that all about?

I don't believe it, they will be favourites ahead of the World Champions!

Now..........if Portugal just happen to win it, then we could say we deserve to be there, because they couldn't beat us with our ten men and no Captain. :o

Surely England will make it to the quarter finals . . . but if Big Phil coaches the Faroes then they'll eventually meet England and boot them out . . .

(I think Scotland will surprise this time)

If Scotland qualify, I ( Scottish ) will be surprised.

:D

We have the 2 World Cup finalists and The Faroe Islands in our group for Euro 2008 qualifiers. :D

Might as well start preparing for Sth Africa 2010. :o

You left out the Ukraine too. And Lithuania - who are a fast-improving side.

The one chink of light is, that with so many big teams, I don't think any 1 team will dominate and everyone will be taking points off of each other.

I think this is a consolidation period for Scotland - get a team together that will be good enough to qualify for the next World Cup! There are plenty of good, young Scottish players.
