Patong Police Station had, as usual, the deepest flooding.

PHUKET: Citizens and tourists in Patong woke this morning (August 15) to find the streets flooded after torrential rain last night.

As usual, the deepest flooding was at Kathu Police Station and the area around the hospital, where the water was as deep as 60cm.

Traffic had to move through water 15 to 20cm deep along parts of Sai Nam Yen Rd, Phang Meuang Sai Gor Rd and Rat-U-Thit 200 Pi Rd.

Flooding is a perennial problem in Patong – something that successive mayors have always promised but never succeeded in fixing.

People are advised not to wade in the water if they have cuts on their feet or legs because of the risk of contracting leptospirosis.

They should also be wary of power lines dangling in the floodwater. There have been cases of people electrocuted in the past during flooding.

The NCPO should get all the past Mayors in and find out why they never did anything about it and where did the money go that was probably designated for this. !!!!!!!!!

Drainage around Rawai looks like its up to the job, however it is poorly maintained choked with rubbish and overgrown with vegetation. Today there is a huge puddle on the road at the northern entrance to wat Nai Harn. Expect to see water trucks syphoning it up as I have seen before here in Rawai.
