Court orders action over stolen guns
The Sunday Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Bangkok Military Court told an Army officer on Friday to file a police complaint against Captain Shinapon Orungroj and Sergeant Somkiet Mayong for 54 guns that were seized during the political unrest and were to have been submitted as evidence to the court.

The guns went missing from a storehouse. They were supposed to be presented at a trial on July 23-24 for attempted murder and murder.

Army officers brought Shinaporn to Chana Songkram Police Station for interrogation while an arrest warrant for Somkiet, who is on the run, will be issued soon.

There are fears that the stolen guns may fall into the hands of ill-intentioned people who may want to create a disturbance.

54 guns

They were supposed to be presented at a trial on July 23-24

Seems like an awful lot of guns for one attempted murder. Seems like alot of fail that someone went through the effort of procuring 54 guns for one murder, yet failed to actually succeed in the murder.

Have another go at reading the OP 'for attempted murder and murder"

Does not specify how many murders and attempted murders.

A very cellophane - thin story. What murder and attempted murder cases (no details)? What kind of guns (a bullpup is not an Uzi is not a shotgun)? A thieving cop on the run? That's never happened before.

Even the US National Inquirer or the UK Guardian wouldn't print this drivel. I can take the issue seriously, but the story... not at all.

Rubbish.

This piece is about the weapons, evidence, going missing from the evidence storage.

It's not about how many people were or were not murdered.

By the way, where's fabie? Perhaps at the forgiveness ceremony.

Collection of evidence, safeguarding, chain-of-custody, accountability and audits of evidence are basic police procedures in many successful police organizations in the world.

Stringent application procedures, intense interviews, background history checks, polygraph and voice stress analysis, financial disclosure and other tools help weed out the bad apples, watermelons or other undesirables. Foolproof? No. Some will slip through if the filters are corrupt in themselves.

I wonder what processes go on in Thai law enforcement personnel recruitment and retention?

Reread the story boys it says military court, told a military officer to file complaint against Captain and Sargent it appears no cops involved..I guess when you get use to ragging on every story about nonsense you stop reading or comprehending the story but more fun putting into it what you want.

Create a disturbance??? <deleted>. Fire crackers are for making a disturbance. Guns in this context are for terrorising & killing. We all know this. Was this in the Nation or Khaosod? What pansy wording!!

There was a large Nation logo at the bottom of the story. Must have been at least 32 point. If you didn't see it I think you should get your eyes checked mate.
