Lite Beer Posted August 16, 2014 Share Posted August 16, 2014 Court orders action over stolen gunsThe Sunday NationBANGKOK: -- The Bangkok Military Court told an Army officer on Friday to file a police complaint against Captain Shinapon Orungroj and Sergeant Somkiet Mayong for 54 guns that were seized during the political unrest and were to have been submitted as evidence to the court.The guns went missing from a storehouse. They were supposed to be presented at a trial on July 23-24 for attempted murder and murder. Army officers brought Shinaporn to Chana Songkram Police Station for interrogation while an arrest warrant for Somkiet, who is on the run, will be issued soon. There are fears that the stolen guns may fall into the hands of ill-intentioned people who may want to create a disturbance. Seems like alot of fail that someone went through the effort of procuring 54 guns for one murder, yet failed to actually succeed in the murder. Stringent application procedures, intense interviews, background history checks, polygraph and voice stress analysis, financial disclosure and other tools help weed out the bad apples, watermelons or other undesirables. Foolproof? No. Some will slip through if the filters are corrupt in themselves. I wonder what processes go on in Thai law enforcement personnel recruitment and retention?
