Change iPhone battery by yourself

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I write this post to help some people who need to replace their iPhone battery.

I bought my present 4S at the end of December 2011 when it was just launched in Thailand. Ever since, I used the same original battery. Now, 2½ years on I feel that the battery needs replacement. Frankly, I never had in any of my previous mobile phones a battery that lastet this long. So, I thought bymyself ... what do I do next? Since some time I live out in the sticks in northern Surin province. Since I know that you can find almost any advice on the Internet I searched and found. There are easy tutorials how to replace an iPhone battery by yourself. I used this tutorial for the model 4S. Then I needed a battery. Although I don't want to recommend Aliexpress (quite some sellers are very unreliable), I ordered it there and was well served. It came by registered airmail and reached me 14 days after I ordered and paid. This is the battery I bought. As you can see, it came with an opening tool set, because without it you're guaranteed to fail.

So, this morning I went to work and changed the battery. I must say that the 2 screws inside are extremely small, never seen so small ones ever in my life (I'm 68). Following the video tutorial made it quite easy. After I finished I booted my phone and it came on, but: it was searching and kept searching for the signal. I went again on the Internet and one post said: change date and time and that should do the job. And it worked. So, even if you live out in the sticks, you are able to do a lot by yourself, even buy and change your iPhone battery without leaving your home. And all it cost me was 220 Baht.

I hope this post c an help many people here.

Nice one, well done and cheers for the heads up, the battery this time probably wont last 2+ yrs becuase it wont be an official apple battery will be a copy but should still get a year out of it.
