Drain grating.

A combination of our new road and a rain deluge the other day, exposed some flooding problems at our place.

We are building some channels to take the water away and need some grating for the driveway area.

Have tried Homepro without success, any suggestions would be most welcome.

Any well stocked swim pool suppliers will carry plastic grating like that. In the south try the shop on Choafa West, past the PTT, right hand side road, half way to Wat Chalong.

I presume you are talking about Mr Pool.

I had thought of swimming pool suppliers, but as I'm looking for steel grating suitable for vehicles in a driveway, not plastic pool side grating, I decided they wouldn't have what I need.

The foundry at the top of soi panthep 2 casts this stuff and sells it (dirt cheap) by the kilo. You will have to take someone with you who speaks good thai.

Thanks, is that Phan Thep Soi 2 running from Mae Luan?

Chok dee with this Old Croc.

If you're successful please post (for Phuket) as I'll face the same problem soon if the apparent new Soi entrance is not adjusted.

I would go to one of the guys who are doing garden doors or similar stuff. They will measure the gap and weld a suitable cover. Depending on the material it can be costly (stainless) or really cheap (normal steel/iron).

Thanks, we'll probably end up doing something like that.

Saw some grates down the road where they've just welded short lengths of rebar into a frame.

Just for those who may be interested:

We ended up getting some grates made up by a steel fabrication shop in Soi Yot Sane, Chalong.

They used angle iron with short lengths of rebar welded in. Not galvanised, but given a rust proof coating. Hopefully wont have to repaint too often. Looks and works fine.

We got a discount, but normal price appears to be about 1000 baht per metre.
