digital memory going phut- why?

Featured Replies

A while back my camera did a wobbly and the memory card now says "formatting error" and all the pics I took are lost. The card won't work at all.

Yesterday, my computer did the same thing with a flash drive- everything lost.

Any of you experts know why? Will it happen again ( old camera and new computer )? Is it possible to regain the pictures somehow?

Thanks.

If the error is 'bit' based then it may be possible to recover the data stored on the device.

If the error is cause by a faulty electronic circuit then the data is inaccessible

There are many 'flash memory recovery programs' available free for download on the internet. The only caveat (caution) would be the type of adware or malware included in your 'free' find.

Thanks for that. Are there any shops that I could take the camera memory card to in Thailand? A lot of irreplaceable photos on it.

Someone with past experience and caution can do it.

Don't have any specific recommendation.

Usually people will download a Memory Card Rescue or Memory Card Recovery program form the Internet and give is a go.
