I've just moved to Siam Country Club Road (by the crossroads where the Fire Station & Tesco/Lotus store are)

Can any of you living locally point out some good places in the area to eat / drink and socialise, both in the day and evenings ?

Thanks.

It really does depend upon various factors such as budget, type of food / venues you like etc as there are many places in the area offering a wide wide range of atmospheres. Give us some more details are I'll point you in the right direction as I am sure others will as well.

A nice place not far from you is the Players Lounge , Food also

like thai and ferang food, enjoy traditional sunday lunch. (where i lived before in central Pattaya, i'd typically pay 50-70B for local food, 150-200B for a typical ferrang meal and 150-250B for sun lunch)

Bars - Prefer quiet places where i can chat and meet ex pats. Not interested in Gentleman's clubs or girlie bars.

I've lived in this area for over 8 years. First of all, I second the recommendations for both The Holland Tulip (on Siam CC, south side, just a few meters from the intersection with Nonprue Rd); and for The Players Lounge. Here are a couple more to consider.

A bit more upscale in menu, atmosphere, and price is The Courtyard. Owned by a nice Canadian gentleman, Jeffrey Couch, and his Thai wife of many years, Nut ("Noot"), who is a formally trained chef. Really excellent food, and a very comfortable, clean, A/C, non-smoking atmosphere inside, and in the back courtyard, where smoking is allowed. Parking in the rear, as well as the uphill area in front of the attractive red brick building. The directions are the same as for The Player's Lounge; but The Courtyard is only about 100 meters after the intersection, on the right side.

My favorite bar/restaurant is The Blue Moose. It's on Soi 9 off of Khao Noi. From our end of Nern Plubwarn (Muslim Rd), drive west about 400 meters to Soi 24 (on your left). Turn into it, and follow it to it's end. Turn right, and drive past the road that intersects from the left, and continue for about 200 meters. It's the building on your left with two cupola-like towers on top. The building is 3 years old. Clean, A/C, non-smoking, with a couple of large tables in the covered patio out front for those who want to smoke. Serves both falang and Thai food. Great breakfast choices. Some lunch items items are: Philly Cheesesteak Sub; Pulled Pork Sub; Reuben Sandwich; Beef Stew, Chili, Spaghetti and Meatballs. Check out the website: http://www.bluemoosepattaya.com/. It's fairly typical international clientele of "regulars" is primarily, but definitely not exclusively, American and Canadian guys. Very sociable group. The owner, Billy Thompson, is American. His lovely lady, Gay, takes care of most of the management chores. Very attractive, friendly female staff - strictly waitresses. No "girl action" beyond conversation here. Two big screen TVs, which are nearly always tuned in to sports. Billy has the NFL Game Pass package, so, during the NFL season, that usually occupies at least one of the screens. The MLB package is also there for baseball fans. But all sports carried on True Visions are almost always always available. During the "live" NFL games (Monday, Tuesday, and Friday mornings) both screens may be dedicated to the NFL, if there's a big crowd; and will certainly be the dominating sound if there's another sport on one of the screens. (Just want to make sure that guys who are not NFL fans understand the priorities.) :-)

some great replies folks - thanks for that.

Any recommendations for "live" music, "cheap and cheerful" local restaurants serving noodle soup at lunch times ?

Ferrang restaurants with typical meal price 150-200 B ?

Lastly, any motorcyclists in the Mabrachan area fancy meeting up ?

Butterfly Bar, was at 60/12 Siam Country Club but I haven't been to the Darkside in ages . . . .

A Blast from the Past, many years since I went there....

It is still there and still a cool, shaded oasis on the dark side.

Was there a few months ago. Actually saw an older American guy counting out his change to see if he could afford a ST. First time I ever saw that

Try Bunnys Restauarant......its on SCC Road, about 500 yards (on the right) from the Cross roads with the traffic lights are (coming from Sukomvit)...

Decent quality English food at a reasonable price. Missus reccons the Thai food is ok too.....

Top tip. Have had their "99b breakfast" a couple of times and reccon it represents good value for money.
