Poultry producers flock against chicken importers

Mandalay Region’s poultry trade association is urging restrictions on imported chickens, claiming they could destabilise the local production industry.

Cheap imports could undercut local producers, hurting the domestic industry as well as related industries and the workers they employ, said U Kyaw Htin, chair of the Mandalay Region Poultry and Egg Production and Trading Association.

Why am I not surprised to see CP foods mentioned in the article (Thai firm Charoen Pokphand). Their reach is pretty huge, they are even in Australia now!
