IB English...Any British tutor available in Bangkok?

Hey

I am not sure whether this is the right forum.

I leave it to the moderators to move this thread to another forum if necessary ( apologies in advance )

My friends' son is getting straight A/A* in all his subjects apart from....English, which he is really struggling with.

The IB is up this year and this boy does need help with a "proper" tutor at home ( someone, maybe, already teaching at an international school and, obviously, knowing the program ).

His school has dismissed any kind of help ( a well known international one ).

I have contacted a friend of mine in charge with the language department at another well known school: it is rather positive as they offer a course.

It is a bit far and the parents would prefer a strong support at home ( Sathorn area in Bangkok ) but if it comes to it, he will take his lessons at the said school.

Does anyone know where else enquiries, could be made as there seem to a shortage of willing qualified teachers?

Thanks

I am confused why you ask specifically for British teacher since IB is not British.

Also confused on the Grades A/A since IB doesn't use those grades they use 1-7.

It also might help if you give the age of your child and the level/ability. IB is grade 11-12 for their Diploma, MYP 6-10, PYP 1-5

You also might want to be more accurate on what language needs the student has.

Read "Native Speaker", "American" or even "up to the job"

I do understand that the title is confusing, but, luckily, that did not stop some from giving advice ( privately )

Maybe, I don't know, you could have, out of the blue, guessed what I meant then try and give a hint of what should/could be done

Mind you the question seemed, to me, quite simple: do you know anyone able to teach English at IB level?

Yes, all the teacher's who teach Language Arts at IB schools here in Thailand.

Put up a flyer at an IB school or ask a secretary if they know any teachers willing to tutor.

Going rate starts at about 1,500 per hour.

That didn't occur to me but as I said, some schools were contacted and the parents were left clueless...and desperate

1500 is, in my opinion, the lowest rate

It also depends whetre the lesson is to be given
