MPT applies more pressure on Ooredoo with SIM card launch

Ooredoo is facing less demand for its SIM cards after Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) started to sell its own 1,500-kyat SIM cards on September 1.

MPT widens distribution of cheap SIM cards

Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications says it has selected 13 companies to sell its new Ks 1,500 SIM cards in Yangon, including Elite Tech, Asia Mega Link, Tarmoe Nyae Chan Thar and Fortune Company.

Over the last couple of weeks it was reported that MPT would be lowering prices, they haven't. I guess they're now waiting for Telenor before they do that, no need to worry about competing with Ooredoo...facepalm.gif
