I´ve been there yesterday around 10 p.m. Beside one more couple couple no customer in the house. Better idea, go on monday, jam session day. After this went to Northgate Jazzclub and the place was packed... jam session daywink.png

What's going on in the bar? The same songs. Like a few other locals, I got tired of listening to the same songs every time you go there. I like Boy, and his music used to move me, but lately I think it's getting a bit tired. Besides playing no new songs he spends too much time show-boating and trying to impress the tourists. The last time I was there he eventually played a song with something like a bit of feeling but unfortunately, right at the end he spoiled it by clowning around . It's the blues and it's supposed to be about the song and the emotions, but personally, I think he's forgotten that. I know a few regulars that agree and don't go as often as they did. Just a gues but I reckon that that's why his only busy night now is Monday Jam night. At least you know you'll hear something different, and probably played with a lot more feeling.

As I said, I like Boy, but I think he needs to go back to basics, learn some new songs, and stop the clowning around. We don't mind a bit of showmanship, but please, not all night.

Yeah, I agree with this. Same or Took at the Brasserie (Boy's uncle, I believe). Took doesn't "clown around" but man he's played all of those songs a million times and it shows. Rarely now he plays with the brilliance he did 15-20 years ago. He's almost 60 now I think. Were all getting old I guess.

Have you told him this?

No I haven't. I know guys that sometimes jam with him and they agree with me, but I'm not sure if they've told him either. It's a pity because I used to love listening to him. My view is that if people that know him better than me haven't told him, then maybe like me, they are wary of upsetting him. Besides, he does seem to be enjoying himself most nights, so if he's happy why not leave him alone? During the high season he seems to do well and the tourists love it.
