Accident Worker Falls to His Death from 6th Floor Freight Lift on First Day of Work

An incident occurred at the Royal Irrigation Department building in Dusit, Bangkok, when a construction worker fell to his death down a freight lift shaft from the 6th floor. The deceased, identified only as Mr Santi 43, had started work on the site just that morning. Police Lieutenant Surachai Phanlomsor, an investigator with Samsen Police Station, was alerted to the incident at approximately 13:20 on 7 June. Emergency rescue personnel were dispatched immediately to the scene at the department’s administrative building, located in the Nakhon Chai Si Road area. Rescue workers found Mr Santi lying on his back at the base of the lift shaft on the ground floor. He was still wearing his work trousers and had visible burn marks on his right arm. Despite efforts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Initial reports suggest that Mr Santi and four other new workers had just started work on a renovation project on the 6th floor. Mr Santi was pushing a cart filled with ceiling debris towards the freight lift to dispose of it. Believing the lift had arrived, he forcefully attempted to open the doors. However, the lift was not actually present at that level, causing him to fall all the way down to the building’s lowest floor. CCTV footage confirmed that Mr Santi exited the renovation area and walked directly towards the lift before the fatal incident occurred. According to on-site engineers, lift doors are designed not to open unless the car is stationed at that floor, raising suspicions of a technical malfunction or forced entry due to excessive pulling. Authorities are continuing to examine the cause of the incident and are interviewing witnesses and co-workers to establish the full circumstances behind the fatal fall. Report Thai Woman Finds Abandoned Box with 12 Million Baht in Condo Waste Area

The cash, encased in a plastic box, was found by a resident on Friday evening, prompting immediate police investigation. A lawyer associated with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has since stepped forward, claiming the money as his own and asserting its legal origins. The man, identified as Taweewat Sengkaew, reported to the authorities that the stash was mistakenly discarded amid a clean-up after a burst water pipe damaged his fifth-floor condo unit. Mr Taweewat, who was under scrutiny for over three hours, claimed ignorance of the money’s presence in the discarded box, believing it contained only unwanted clothes. The condo management has corroborated the incident of the burst pipe, but the police remain keen on corroborating Mr Taweewat's story. To back his claim, Mr Taweewat has been asked to present bank records confirming that the hefty sum was withdrawn in 2020. He cited his role as a lawyer and advisor to various companies as the source of his wealth, adding that he intended to enter politics, which is why he stored the cash at home instead of in a bank. Mr Taweewat was also candid about his position against any assumptions linking the money to his advisory role within the NBTC, especially with the agency set to auction spectrum bands by the end of June. However, the plot thickens as Mr Taweewat's participation in a National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) sub-committee scrutiny of unusual wealth adds to the case's scrutiny. Meanwhile, the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) has noted the understandable suspicions arising from the situation due to both the extraordinary sum and the peculiar circumstances. The office is actively collaborating with law enforcement to untangle the truth behind the 12 million baht's sudden appearance. In conclusion, the uncovering of the 12 million baht has sparked a domino effect involving multiple agencies to ensure that the origins and declared status of the funds are thoroughly examined.
