Vegetable price rises as Chinese vegetarian festival coming close

BANGKOK, 21 September 2014 (NNT) - Department of Internal Trade has admitted that vegetable prices in the market have increased due to season. Chinese vegetarian food fairs will be arranged at fresh markets to offer low-priced ingredients for vegetarian consumers.

Deputy Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade Suchart Sinrat said the department was cooperating with fresh markets and vegetable farmers in organizing Chinese vegetarian fairs after it received complaints over price increases in fresh vegetables and other ingredients. The department also set a standard price of Chinese vegetarian food at 30-35 baht/dish and required vendors to display price labels, said Mr Suchart.

The department will hold the “Fresh Vegetables from Gardens to Consumers: Chinese Vegetarian Festival 2014” event in Bangkok and four other provinces to promote the festival and sell good quality ingredients at reasonable prices.
