Hi all,

I'm currently in the u.k & want to take out extra cover for my Kawasaki 250 D-Tracker (3rd class) to cover third party & myself & passenger for the 5-6 months that I spend in Thailand, I have found an insurance company in Thailand that has adequate cover for the third parties but not for myself, I was told that if I was involved in a serious accident then I would have to claim from my travel insurance, from what I can see on the various travel companies they will only cover me on a 125, im waiting for a reply at the moment from my regular insurance broker as to whether they can insure me or not.....

I would like to hear from anyone either living permanently or as the same as me whether they are fully covered in the unlikely event of a serious accident.........

Thanks In Advance......

nearly all insurance companies in Thailand do individual accident and health insurance here in Thailand for cheap. google insurance companies Thailand.

But you have to have a license, either from back home or a Thai license.

Still at times, i have noticed that, they do not even do an alcohol test or ask for a license and just pay but if i were you i dont take that risk.

good luck.

Getting cover for so long (5/6 months) will be a problem from England more so than cover for a "big" bike. May bebest to source when in Thailand.

I have been using 'Go Walkabout' who specialise in long term backpacker insurance and cover any bike providing you have a licence.

Thanks for the advice, the best I've had so far, all of the company's that I have contacted me will only cover me up to a 125, I've looked on there website & the only problem that I can see is that they require you to have a licence to ride in your own country, I've only got a Thai bike licence, I called them today & asked whether this would be o.k, just waiting for them to email me.....

If it isn't then maybe I will have to take my bike test.....

Thanks again for your help.....
